There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Annoyed by people asking how much $$$$ ...

People ask me questions all the time. I don't mind when they ask, usually say they start around $16K and up to $25K+ for the touring version. They have been around since 2008 and if you can find a used one they are usually around $10K now.

When folks ask about how much I always provide an answer in keeping with how serious they are. For example if a snotty 15 year old asks (and I'm packing heat) I'll give him a snotty answer but on the other hand if a 15 year old looks truly serious I'll take the time to try to answer his questions, why?
Because in ten years or so he may be a gainfully employed member of society buying the new 2022 model RS-S with the finally improved foot peg and handlebar position.

most of the time I get folks asking for "just a short ride around the parking lot" the answer to this request is dependent on age and lack of Y chromosomes. Other wise my answer is sure I'll give ya a ride but I may not bring ya back. Still want to go? I suppose my beard, weapon on my hip and my Blue Knights leather vest with Club Colors turns most folks away from asking too many questions.

Lately I've been barraged by people asking how much my Spyder cost to buy......and some are downright annoying and rude.

I don't mind when someone seems to have a genuine interest in the Spyder-- or if they ask in a decent manner--- like "If you don't mind me asking.... yada yada yada..".
To these people I'll give them a base of around $17,000 and tell them they go up from there maxing out around $25,000.

But lately I've had people that you can just tell would never make enough in a lifetime to own a Spyder shout out "How much that cost?".

When they are far away I just ignore them like I can't hear through my helmet--- but when they are close and I must answer I'll usually say "around 20". To which they usually ask "THOUSAND?????". No -- like I meant 20 DOLLARS---- WTH ?

I was raised that it was rude to ask people how much something costs - and in this day and age of 'THE' GOOGLE.... I can find the price out on my own if I'm that interested......

Anyway --- how do you all handle this ??

If I have my helmet on, I point to it and say I have earplugs in and can't hear them...if they catch me before I get the helmet on, I tell them I'm in a rush and advise them to go to a dealership...I'd say 99% of those who ask aren't going to buy anyway, so why waste the time. I have countless amounts of people I've spoken to who I've referred to the dealership...I don't think even one has bought one...I'm not for small talk when I'm getting ready to ride...I like to concentrate and make sure I have all my safety checks done...small talk just makes me forget things...like forgetting to strap in my helmet...

I'm withya on this Fire...just give them some uninteresting answer and be off...or tell them to go to a dealership...

Decided my new answer will be that we won them on a game show...... ;)

Tell them it was Family Feud and the topic was "Rude questions people ask"..... ;):roflblack:

I know this is an old thread, but ...

I just have to get it off my chest. Today while at the auto parts store I had two people come up to me at different times and the conversation went like this: "That your motorcycle? How much?" The third guy I ran into at another store was driving a 1956 Chevy Bel Air (in perfect shape), and after I complemented him on his car he said "I like your bike, how much do they cost?" In all three cases I took everyone advice and gave them the MSRP. I do have to admit that I did ask the guy with the Bel Air if he wanted to trade :roflblack: There, I feel better now.

price

when i get the how much? question i answer: new ones start around 16. that's usually the end of it.:gaah:

Rude Questions

I have only had my SpYder for about a month now and have only been asked the question of
how much once. A co-worker asked because he was looking into buying a bike, but wanted something his wife could ride as well. I get asked about the gas mileage far more than how much.

My wife and i went to the local HD shop, she was looking for some gloves....While she was looking around, I went over and priced a few of their touring motorcycles...Sheeeesh, I didn't know a HD Ultra Classic was the same price as we paid for her RT-S...

So here lately my wife when she gets asked the question, how much does that thing cost...(Red RT-S) she or I will tell them; especially HD riders, oh the same price as the HD Ultra Classic...They look like deer in the headlights at that point... Then they walk away mumbling something unintelligable!:roflblack:

I don't mind the price question that much (Yes, I was raised that it is rude to ask) I tell them that mine lists for 20k. That is if they walk up to me in the parking lot. If they shout it at me in the street and I am wearing the full face I just ignore it.

As granpa in Cincy said, the one that gets me is "Do you like it?". I just can't wrap my head around that. Why would I have it if I didn't like it? I used to just say "I love it" but after reading this thread I have been inspired. I will now say "I hate it...but it gets better mileage than my Ferrari and it's just as fast."

I go ahead and tell them...don't really care..

Whether it is 10k or 30k or somewhere in between...

Questions

Every time I park the bike, (had it about a month now) I get a a list of questions. The first 20 times it was kind of fun, but it wears thin quickly. I just got my new owners kit from BRP and int it were two hefty stacks of business card sized brochures. At first I thought "huh?" Then I realized this is the perfect answer. When someone starts up with the questions, I will just politely hand them one of these brochurelets. I knew BRP was smart, but this is genius!

Spyder and Porsche

So I recently bought a new Porsche and I get this all the time now between the Spyder and Porsche. My response for the Spyder is "Mine is 3 years old but I think they start at around $18k now". For the Porsche I say "more than I wanted to pay".

One guy I just met 10 minutes before said, "you must be doing pretty good" nodding toward my Porsche. I replied with a smile, "yeah pretty good at saving for 20 years".

Ok Ok, I am changing my previous answer to i now feel that people in general have no shame! I have literally been asked 247, yes I said it clearly TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY SEVEN TIMES. I don't want to be rude, but I now judge people on how soon they ask, If they ask in the first 5 seconds i respond with about the " same price as a GoldWing!", that shut him up, of course he had never heard of a goldwing so toooooooooosheeeeeeee. LOL

For me, it really depends on how the question is asked. I generally say it depends on where you buy it but staring around 25K. Had some fool walk up the other day and just blurt out "Whadya pay for that?" As usual, I said around 25K base. He said "Ya, but whadya pay?" Just shook my head and rode away. I don't need that kind of rude.

I'm also sick of being asked right off the bat "How much?". I'd love to ask them what their income is a year and I'll tell you whether or not you can afford it!

questons....

i like some of your answers.... but 'm not likely to confront anyone over a simple question.. The cost of the goldwing is the most easy answer.

Firefly, what is the web site and name of where you bought your hitch, looked but didn't find.....
