• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

And I thought this was going to be easy.

:gaah: So tonight I decided to remove all of the gray cast metal parts from my RT Limited to get them ready for powder coating. I started with the left side foot peg, passenger foot board and the main support casting. I figured this can't be real hard as lots of owners have replaced them with the chrome ones. :yikes: Wrong! This was a real PIA but I was able to get it all removed on about an hour or so. Then another 30 minutes removing the pegs, floor boards and all the bushings etc. Little did I know this was going to be the easy one. :gaah:

The right side is a completly different story. This side required an abundance of 4 letter words. :lecturef_smilie: Little did I know the brake linkage and master cylinder would be in the way. And then to top it off, 2 of the bolts had metal tabs bent over them to prevent turning :gaah: and no way to bend them out of the way while the casting was installed on the Spyder. Two and a half hours later I finally got it off. Then I had to remove the rider peg and brake pedal assembly. I just hope I can get it all back together when it's ready.

I also removed the windshield support casting. Initially I was also going to do the top of the handle bars and the rear wheel and sprocket but changed my plans. I'm replacing the handle bars with the new 3 axis ones and they are black and will look fine. I decide not to do the back tire and sprocket because removing the wheel and disassembling would require replacement of all the bearing and seals leading into more work than I'm willing to take on now as I'd like to be done and ready to ride in a few weeks.

Never too much..!!

It's never too much when you set your mind to it. You made it and now I'm sure you will venture on to other things as well. Get those parts that you got off done and back on, look at how great they turned out then re- consider going further.. Either way your :f_spider:'s going to be smashing..!!:thumbup:

I am having the back tire and sprocket fully chromed. What I did you may find helpful....Find someone or advertise you are looking for an extra rear tire and sprocket. Get them powder coated instead of taking it off and leaving it in that state. A fellow Spyder owner gave me the extra sprocket and rear tire. I can't wait to see pics of your finished farkling.

Working on the my RT

So far I have installed a lamonster skid plate, BahaRon anti Sway bar, Ultimate Seat,Diamond Arm rest for my wife. and wind deflectors, and Kwehl hwy pegs.. Not in that order (unfortunatly) One thing I realized early on is to have a bench with lots of room and when something comes off place it on the bench in the order it came off. I have seen this done at transmission repair shops. That way you do not have some many left over parts
I only wish I had stated doing that earlier one:banghead:.
