What the :cus: is wrong with people??? Was out running errands today with the wife. That was my first mistake. Well, not really. I had some stuff to do too. We took the truck so we could get gas in it since it was almost empty from our trip home from Delaware. Stopped on base to fill up. Leaving the pumps had to stand on the brakes. This young airman in his mini decides to back out of his parking spot without looking. When he see's me he looks straight ahead with the "oh :cus:" look as I give him the "you stupid :cus:" look. Lowes and lunch go ok. Head to Target to get what we need. Pulling out of the parking space, ok. Leaving the parking lot and here comes this woman in an F250 Super Duty at about warp 2 making an 18 wheeler style turn into the parking lot forcing me and the car behind us to take evasive action. Guess she was on a mission.
Drop Kris off at US Cellular so she can see about an upgrade. He cell phone is on it's last legs. Last month she got an e mail from them that she could upgrade using some of the "points" she's accumulated in the last ten years as a customer. Now when you go in to the store you know you're going to wait. I run to the post office to mail a package. I come back and she's still waiting her turn. She looks at me and asks what happened. She knows me too well. I tell her that I'm pulling out of the space at the post office and this car pulls up behind me and stops. Mind you, my backup lights are on and I'm already moving. So I wait a minute (figuratively) and gun the engine trying to get her attention with my twin race pipes with quad tips. She looks my way then goes back to talking to her passenger. I blow the horn. Maybe she's deaf. So I get out and go tap on her window. In my most gentle, calm voice
shocked
I tell her I'm trying to get out and she's blocking me. She looks irritated and says " I'm explaining to her what she needs to do in the post office". So I politely tell her to move the :cus::cus: car or I'll move it for her. I get back in the truck and gun the engine for effect and put it in reverse. She got the message.
So I go back to the phone store. Kris is still waiting. Her turn comes up. I go sit with her as she explains to the sales rep what she wants. He pulls her info up. Surprise . She's not eligible for an upgrade until next month. So I pipe up and ask why she got the e mail. He says "it's right here on the screen". Kris tells him that US Cellular deducted the points by mistake last month and was supposed to reinstate them. The rep said they did that but they didn't reinstate the upgrade date. And, she can't use just some of the points for an upgrade, she'll have to use all of them. She asks why and he said it's their policy. So I say "why did they send her the e mail then?" He tells Kris that he can't change anything. Oh, and there is an upgrade fee too. So Kris looks at me and I tell her to just get the phone she wants and be done with it. The rep says he has to go to the back room for a minute and see if they have the phone she wants. She looks at me again and tells me I need to go sit in the truck. I do.
There's one more stop at Food Lion. I sit in the truck. Older woman parked next to me comes out and puts her groceries in her car. Then parks the buggy next to the truck. I roll down the window and kindly point out the cart rack just on the other side of my truck. Without a word she puts the cart in it's proper place. I thank her, didn't get a you're welcome. Leaving the parking lot, pull out in the lane and get made number one from an individual who, I assume, I have offended in some way. I ask Kris if I've offended this person and Kris says she guesses that this fine upstanding member of the community apparently feels I've pulled out too soon, even though there was at least for parking rows and associated travel lanes between us.
I'm staying in the rest of the day and night. Unless the weather gets bad, we're under a tornado and severe storm watch. Then it's on the road as a spotter. I hope not. I have IRT recorded.
