• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

An explanation why BRP use a softer swaybar.

I ask a lot of questions during Homecoming, while not an official answer by any means, one explanation I was given was that a softer swaybar will give the spyder an under steer. Under steer lessen the likely hood of the rearend swinging out and letting the trike go into spin and loosing control.
Just one more way BRP is taking care of us, once we get use to our toys upgrading a swaybar seems a small price for the learning curve.

Now I've got to see if I can make it do that.

  1. BajaRon bar installed
  2. oversteer
  3. rearend swings out
  4. Spyder goes into spin

Has anyone tried that? Got it on video? Please?????

OUT OF CONTROL ?????

I'm not sure that person knows about the VSS system on the Spyder :yikes: ...... jmho ...... Mike

B.S. Meter.jpgThat's what the VSS is there for: to keep us on the straight and narrow!
IMHO (and that's all that it is!): BRP calibrated these suspensions for a softer ride because that's what they thought would sell the best. ;)

...But they sorely misjudged the marketplace!

As far as cost: it doesn't cost all that much more to make a bar stiffer... or softer!
And a low-cost shock can certainly be sprung stiffer also.

This was designed for a market that valued comfort over handling... only most of us are looking for handling over comfort...

Exactly my thoughts, Bob!

Should have ask them why they put adjustable shocks on the front of the F3 WITH the softer sway bar? That is kind of a conflict of purpose to me. Oh, and then they put the crappy rear shock on the F3. I bought the 2up shock and the byke should have come with that.

You sell an awesome product then you start cheapening it out with poor shocks, tires, etc., etc..

They could be so much more if they only tried.

Say What? (VSS)

Another reason is that if BRP put in a heavier swaybar, they would have to pay Bosch - who makes the electronics - big bucks to change the software that governs the Nanny. That and the price of a stiffer swaybar as well. Chump change really, and if spread out across every Spyder built from now on might add a couple of hundred bucks to the price. Why cheap out? It bites that we, the owners, have to pony up $$$ for a swaybar, heim links, Magic Mirror mounts to replace the really cheap & crappy plastic OEM mounts, billet aluminum "dogbone" for the height adjustable windshield to replace the cheap cast OEM part, better tires, and the list goes on. For what these machines cost, it kind of irks me that I see so many parts that are labeled "Made In China' on my RTL.
