• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

An even larger air filter?

Just wondering if anyone has looked at all the un-used real estate on the filter mount surface and wondered hmmm...is there a slightly bigger K&N I could use. I was thinking about tracing the perimeter and going to the store to fit a larger K&N, then removing some material from the airbox, includuding the smaller filter area. Fabbing a bolted down squash plate to create the seal...this would allow the cold air intake mod to still function.
Or just bore some holes and hide a few motorcycle filter pods on the underside?

I was curious as to why nobody had just glued some rubber weatherstrip or tubing into the lid or airbox to make a better seal. Even running a bead of RTV silicon sometimes works. I'll admit I have not studied the thing, but it seems the easiest way out. Your thoughts...?

I was speaking more in regards to how small the filter is sq in wise, compared to the whole surface it sits on that separates the clean and dirty halves of the air box. Why didn't they use the whole surface area? You could find an even larger K&N to cover more or the most possible and clear away all that extra airbox plastic...or bore some holes and stick a few motorcycle filter pods on the dirty side.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I think K&N has a section on their website that lists filters by size.
