• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Amsoil

The old 5W-40 Rotella (not the others as I recall) carried an API SL rating. The new containers are SM.

True, unfortunately. I'd been using Rotella T Synthetic in all my machines (except for my Spyder, which has been dealer serviced to date) for many years, but now must look for something new, due to the recent change to an SM rating - indicating, I believe, addition of friction reduction additives that are not compatible with wet clutches.

The manual calls for 5W-40 and I see lots of folks using 10W-40. As I am riding all Winter I am not going to buy an oil that doesn't have the 5W rating.
That leaves me with the Castrol synthetic as the only choice I have seen .
I use Castrol also...several thousand miles on spyder. Good stuff!

Shell Rotella T in the...

blue bottle is SL rated.

Rotella T synthetic in the blue bottle is API service rated as CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF/SL.

Please note this only applies to the blue bottle. The others have friction modifiers and should not be used in a wet clutch machine.
