• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Amp Install?

Hello everyone, I love this site and the way it provides so much useful information. My Spyder is a 2011 RTL. I have searched and can't find the answer to my question. Any help will be appreciated.

I want to install an amp, new speaker wires will be run from the amp to each speaker. I will tape the ends of the old speaker wires at the speakers and leave them in place. The high level speaker input will be used to input signal to the amp. Can I use T-Taps on the 8 speaker wires coming from the radio harness. I'm trying not to cut any wires in the harness. Will this work?

I think I'd talk to a car stereo store and see what they say. The input requirement of the amp may or may not like the Spyder speaker output, but there's ways to make it work. I hope you'll post your results here, because I know others would be interested.

:welcome: … and …. :ohyea: … I'm a DIY'er and found this on my 2014 RT which has the same radio yours does. …. the main problem is the OEM speakers aren't very high quality, putting in a more powerful AMP isn't going to make the speakers BETTER.... A poor sounding speaker CAN'T be fixed with an AMP ….. I swapped out mine for JBL 2 Ohm models and my rears are now a full 5.25 size …. I don't play mine at full volume because it hurts my ears …. yep they are that good ….. so imho don't bother with the AMP ...unless you upgrade the speakers first ….And all four have to be changed, otherwise you will only notice the bad ones …… good luck …. Mike :ohyea:
