• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I bought "item 140243147662, 10 black Dzuz Fasteners Fairing DUCATI 748 996 998" for $28 + $3 s/h.

but hold off a minute before you order on my account--I'm gonna try to get a chance to pop them in tomorrow, and I'll confirm that they fit well (or at all)!
I bought them too, but haven't had a chance to put them in. Can't beat the price.

All right... somebody confirm these things will fit yet? ::)

Sorry, dryheat.

I fell off a dumptruck (no, it's not an interesting story) and I've been very slowly hobbling around with a cane.

Soooo, I didn't get the panels trimmed to get the clips on for the right side yet.

Anyhow, here's a pic of the ones I bought (# 140243147662, but kurveygirl.com has lots from which to choose) and you can see that the new black one is slightly shorter than the stock. While the head also has a slightly smaller diameter, the shaft is the same (the teflon washers are identical to stock).

(Stock fastener=silver.)

I'll be replacing the left side as well in my quest for more and more blackness on the Spyder (it'll be like a new moon instead of full moon!) and so I can't use the stock clips, either.

I still think these will be fine (I have one in!) but I can do a photo essay later when I am mobile and can do the job...

Dzuz fasteners part three...

OK, a review and update from last night:

1. The shafts of the dzuz fasteners I bought from kurveygirl..com were the perfect size to fit through the body work snugly. (No problem)

2. The shafts were a tiny bit shorter. After installing and uninstalling five times, I did what I should've done to start: squeeze the spring clips closer with a vise grip so the fasteners "catch" on the clip to start that 1/4 turn. Or, you could buy longer ones!

3. I actually kind of like the black on silver panels look, but I bought them for when I put on black panels. I do think that I can wear off the finish from too much handling, however. I suppose most folks would opt for the silver finish...

4. You definitely need to grind down where the clips go (2 plastic areas, 1 metal) as in Wjillie's real nice set of photos here

All in all, an easy modification that makes access much faster and less likely to lose parts!

(Yes, yes, I know: I'll take photos as soon as I can hobble out to the garage!)

I was forwarded this link, and was surprised of the use of the Dzus bolts for the Spyder.
I have not seen that model of Dzus bolt before, the engagement section is much longer than the Dzus/Panex that I sell. That would effect the "feeling" of getting the Dzus bolts to fit.

It appears you purchased the shorter of the two Dzus bolts that I carry. The shorter have a Working Length of 12mm, but that is a misleading number. The Dzus clip uses 7mm of that working length, so you end up with a grip range of about 5mm. It would seem that the longer Dzus bolt for OEM Plastic, which have a Working Length of 14mm would be a better choice.

If you can photograph the Dzus bolt along side a metal Scale that is in mm, I can estimate the Working Length of these bolts. If not, I will make an effort to buy a single bolt and check it myself. I like to be able to tell people what fits and what does not fit for special applications. If their is anyway I can help out, please let me know.

I am now working on specialized replacement Dzus kits. So if exchanging the Dzus bolts for your Spyder is something the community needs, I will try to develop a kit for you. If anyone is in the Phoenix, AZ area, I would love to check out their Spyder for this kind of kit.

Thanks, KG!

I'll photo the stock fastener with a scale unless somebody beats me to it. For now, here're a couple of quick pics:

I'm down in Tucson, and do get to Phx on occaision... but there are a number of owners in Phx. as well. If one of them doesn't see this and contact you, send me a PM and contact phone/address and I will stop by the next time I'm up there. In the meantime, I will probably figure out an order and get back to you!:D

Thank you for the offer... I had my technical staff (Yes, I don't do this alone) start to take a look at the Dzus bolts for the Spyder. I will get my technical staff to start researching the actual maker, but at first glance it looks like a DFCI part.

It seems some are only doing the conversion is for only 3 bolts on one side. 3 bolts would be the least expensive way to go.

I don't have a special kit for this, but I do sell individual parts for DIY projects. I think at my limited glance and talking it over with my technical staff the Spare Parts: 1 Black OEM Length (14mm) Dzus Bolt with Clip is probably the best choice for his. I sell them as single kits for $5 total (Clip, washers and Bolt). If you exchanged all 6 that would be $30. For Just $2 more you could get prepackaged 10pack of OEM Length Dzus bolts (14mm).

Another nice option would be to get the Button head instead of the "D-Ring" - Spare Parts: 1 Black OEM Length (14mm) Button Head Dzus w/clip. If you wanted to keep the same clean look without the D-Ring. Some people like that option as well.

If someone in the phone area can let me look at their Spyder for a short while with my technical staff, that would be great. My goal is always to get the right parts to people.
