• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Am I wrong on this?

Two solutions

1. Yell "stop thief" Call 911 as loud as you can! Let them explain to the police why the were manipulating the controls of your vehicle from the drivers seat.....
2. Lock and load......
years ago, I found a guy on my Harley. I discovered if you grab a handful of hair, and press their face into the hot exhaust pipes, they leave in a hurry! PIA to polish off skin......
 
My two-wheeler was seated on once and since then people at work are very careful about picking up a conversation with me. I paid a lot for my pretty bike and I consider it my own personal property. When I came out and found some younger employee straddled on top of it to show off how cool he looked on a bike...let's just say it wasn't pretty. Mind you, I would've let him take a seat on the bike and even helped him do it if only he would have asked. You don't touch or sit on someone else's property without their permission...you just don't.

I don't even want to imagine what I'd do if someone tried that on a newly bought Spyder. I'll need to figure something out to prevent people from doing it while it's parked outside.
 
how could you be wrong, unless they are paying for YOUR spyder.
community property isn't the law of the land(yet).:banghead::banghead:

Furthermore I've had to help friends get on the bike, first one didn't use floorboards and bike was to wide, almost face planted, would have broke antenna, you get the idea.

Borrow what ???

My favorite is a relative of my daughter-in-law, who just got his motorcycle license, called and asked if he could borrow my spyder to see if he liked it. :yikes: Needless to say I was shocked that he would ask such a thing. I told him, that was what dealers were for.

I could see the situation reversed...

where the person (s) sitting on my bike got injured getting on or off the bike and ending up suing for medical costs for their injury. The world with regard to respect for other people's property, personal responsibility, has just really gotten off-kilter..No way would I let anyone on my bike in these days...

But I'm an elderly rider, not an elderly person who was obviously intrigued with the Spyder and possibly interested in getting one. What would you have done if they asked your permission to sit on it? And, why is it more difficult for a retired LEO to be subtle than any of the rest of us?

While scuffs and heel marks rub out (I've put enough on to know), It's more the principle of the thing. Personal property is personal property. I compare someone sitting on the Spyder the same as someone hopping in my car without permission. Regardless of whether the car has a door that can be locked, and Spyder is all open, both events are the same when it comes to intrusion of space.

I've let, and invited many people to sit on the spyder when they come to look at it, but I would have the same reaction if I found someone taking it upon themselves to start playing around with my stuff without my permission.
 
In general, if someone shows interest and asks to sit on my machine, I'll consent. But only if I am there and they ask.
If they ask to ride it, that's a different story. I tell them that to ride it, I need the title to their comparable vehicle or replacement cash in hand, MY HAND, before they take off.
If I invite them to ride, collateral is not required.
 
I've had several middle aged women ask to sit on my Spyder. Irritates my wife but I always say yes.

I'm retired LEO and as subtle as can be.

Well all depends how you look at it. An elderly couple just sitting on my Spyder to get a feel of it, i might not say anything to hurt their feelings. Just don't be pressing the buttons and switches. A kid playing on it wont be good, cause they don't know what they are pressing and moving thinking it's a toy. I would not like kids playing on it and the parents just sitting their letting them play on it. I get a lot of people walking around it or staring at it when it's parked somewhere, but never had anyone to sit on it without asking first.:popcorn:

I agree with everything you said. My point is just that I wouldn't be inclined to blow up and say something that I know I would be sorry for later. And I'm not saying that I wouldn't be a little upset over a scratch or a ding but if I was that concerned about the finish on my Spyder, I wouldn't ever park it anywhere that there might be people around. No, there's no excuse for people who don't respect other people's property, but we know that it's going to happen. I don't want to spend all my time trying to watch my ride. It takes all the fun out of riding. I'm sure there would be situations where I would get really mad, like the example of a father trying to sit a kicking kid on someone else's bike. But, even then, I'd rather just let it go than let it take all the fun out of riding for me.

By the way, almost all of my riding friends would agree with you and Mobey. They spend a lot more time washing their bikes than I do. : )

I am very proud of my Spyder as I was of my other bikes. I welcome anyone who has questions about the Spyder and I feel I am a good ambassador for BRB. I will let people sit on the Spyder if they ask as I understand their curiosity and they might be the next convert.

Bikeguy you have implied in a couple of posts that I blew up. I can assure you I am too much of a gentleman to do this with people in general and particularly with people I know. That does not change the fact that their disrespectful actions did annoy me and I believe I have that right just as others have the right not to care.
