• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just put the Spyder in the shop for the steering, coil and brake recalls. Wanted the dealership to put my rack and passenger seat on and they told me it is about a 3 hr. job--will run me about $250.00. That seems high....!?!?
Is an angle rotation sensor the same as the gear position sensor? I feel so vulnerable when I put it in the shop! Thanx for your help in advance.
 
That's what I was quoted as well - however, it's not that bad a job to consider doing it yourself - plus it will help you get to know your Spyder better.

Yes that sounds about right for the amount of time.
I wonder if, somewhere, there is a guide for how much time a given procedure should take? Like my car michnic has.

Yes, it's called "flat rate", and each Spyder procedure, including accessory installation has an assigned number of labor hours. Good mechanics make money beating the flat-rate tables, and that's sometimes easier with multiple intallations, since some of the work overlaps.
 
That sounds about right. Have my first service coming up, and have a few mods for them to put on, going to cost me...

Angle rotation sensor and gear position sensor are two names for the same device, I believe.

It would help if dealers and BRP would use the same terminology for each of these sensors. It is confusing enough even when this is done.

I know the GPS (Gear Position Sensor) is for the gear box/shifting. But I thought the Angel Rotation Sensor was a steering component.

The GPS (Gear Position Sensor) and the Angel Rotation Sensor are the SAME unit - yes it is in the gearbox area and sends signals to the computer telling it what gear you're in - but it also can cause steering 'blips' when it becomes damaged and sends errant signals.

See, there's still confusion about what it's called..... :D :D If there are two separate units with similar names, the names get used interchangeably. I figured it was something that got messed up in the french - english translation. There is another sensor in the steering that senses that angle that the handlebars are rotated. Not sure what they call that one.

The parts fiche (English) calls it the Steering Angle Sensor. Confused yet?
