• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Alternatives for Fog/Driving Lights

Since I dont have OEM fog lights I am interested in putting some serious lights on my spyder for night driving and particularly on curvy Tennessee mountain roads. I have HID headlights, but sure could use some strong wide beams pointed at the curvy road ahead instead of straight ahead.

Several options I have looked at so far are:

- ESI Day Runner Pucks
- ClearwaterLights.com
- AdvMonster.com (LED lights & Dimmer Switch)
- Vision X Solstice, Solo & Solo Prime LED Driving Lights

There are likely more I should look at, but I would to hear about experience with the above lights and particularly as used in night driving. With the huge variety of LEDs available now to improve your visibility, I am more concerned about lights to help see the road.

ESI dayrunners for me. They do not have a long range due to being LED lights, but light up the area in front on the road and out to the sides rather nicely.
You can see the lighting on the ground with just the pucks and dayrunners on.

I just installed the AdvMonster.com (LED lights & Dimmer Switch)
fog lights. Each light has a built in dimmer and it switches everytime you switch them off then back on in less than 2 seconds. If you turn them off for more than 2 seconds it will return to the same brightness that it was at when last turned off. I've had them go out of sequence already once. I had to disconnect one light and cycle it until they were again both at the same brightness.

Being able to dim the light does allow daytime and nighttime use even with oncoming tarffic. Low beam you can make each of the three lights, Med will work during the day if aimed down a little. High beam is like landing lights :yikes:. I don't have good photos yet while on the road. These were taken at night with the garage lights off.

I have these as well. I haven't mounted them yet. I will interested to see any additional photos you might take. I read about the "out of sync" issue. I guess a quick release might be a good idea. I'm thinking mounting mine a little higher up:dontknow:

im using driving lights from walmart for cars the work good for me iv got them on my car also.and the price is right.

Trickie Dick I got these after seeing an earlier post and link of yours. I had the lights in sync then solderd the wires to a common switch and they still went out of sync. I did add a quick disconnect for one light to allow the light to be corrected. Having to turn off the lights then switch them back on to change brightness makes it hard to keep track of what level you are at.

I will be adding some more photos to another post about my mods in the next few days. Right now I'm still digging out my drive after the 18" to 24" snow fall we had this week. Still too much snow on the roads to go for a good drive day or night.

Thanks, looking forward to it. I didn't understand that you had to switch the lights off to change levels. I thought you just pushed the switch and it cycled to the next level:dontknow:. I think if I did it again, I would go with the single stage 24w lights and use the rheostat they came out with after I ordered mine. I did want a way to run them at a dimmer level just to be seen and then turn them up at night for better visibility.
We only got 6 inches here but it was on top of 4 inches of solid ice so riding it not great. I put mine up for the winter anyway. Fair weather (read warm) rider here.
