There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Almost Human - New Fox TV Show - Are Those Spyders?

Did anyone watch the new show on the Fox Network last night, ALMOST HUMAN

It takes place in the year 2048. The premise, in part, is every human cop is required to be partnered with a "synthetic" cop, i.e. robot, android, or whatever else you want to call it.

Of course to make it seem "futuristic", they show people driving strange vehicles, etc. LOL. In 2 scenes (very briefly) they show Spyders being driven as futuristic vehicles in the year 2048.

Even the promo shows the Spyder (extremely briefly, around the 1:32 mark).

Sad thing is that they were on everytime my eyes were diverted...my wife at least caught it once so I could rewind the DVR.

I watched the last half hour yesterday evening. Saw one :ani29: for about a 3 second flash. May try the show at least one more time--but not sure if I will become a regular watcher.

I still mention the fact, that a lot of stuff we see as Sci Fi does seem to pop up in the future. You have to go back a few years and then see what we have going on today. 2001 A Space Odyssey is an example. I am not mentioning Atomic mutant types of movies (Them! etc.).

:agree: We're giving it another week; then we'll decide if it's worth watching...
There's already all sorts of "Plot discussions" ongoing...
Do you think that Kennex might also be a "Synthetic", and just not know it yet?
Notice any similarities to "Blade Runner"?

I have not watched enough to answer your question here. The Blade Runner similarity seems right on though. Will try to catch the full next episode so I can start to make up my mind.

Antique Vehicles

Every car in that show is a current model Ford, just slightly disguised Focuses from what I can tell. Add in the current model Can Ams and every vehicle is antique in their time as per the show's premise. How many present day premise cop shows drive around in 38 year old vehicles?

Almost Human

Saw both episodes. They showed the Spyders at least 3-4 times, once in a flash of a chase scene. I was very excited for some positive product placement! They did make it sound electric. On the pilot on Sunday, It looked like a 2012 RS because it didn't have the 'ridges' on the front fenders, but in the Monday episode it was definitely a 2013. Same paint job.

As to why only old cars, maybe it's a retro phase... like the reboot of Camaros. Or... they are trying to keep the cost down because most sci fi shows that rebuild "new worlds" or the future usually are too expensive to keep on the air every week.

Fun to see a Spyder so prevalent on mainstream TV though. I have a feeling that it will be a 'regular' now that they have gone to the trouble of painting it. Reusable sunk cost asset.

The promo they did in New York are 2 2013's from the ridges. The guy called the "Spyder Can-Ams" though. But it showed passersby sitting on them.
