Almost hit a person today.

I :2thumbs: crazy people!

I grew up with a hum-dinger! Crazy Unys! They lived 5 doors down. All kinds of nut jobs were carted out of there, lots of violent situations. The police never wanted to come out there until somebody was bleeding man! They finally took her when they found her in the downstairs of her house sitting among multiple Bee-hives. Huge suckers too! She cut a hole in the wall so they culd go in and out. She would just sit down there with her Bees. That is when she wasn't terrorozing the neighborhood. We were gonna burn her down long before that but common sense took over (we were little punk teen agers!) the neighborhood took a stand and the authorities FINALLY did the right thing. I know that sounds bad but that place was the scourge of the whole block and the law wasn't doing jack. It all worked out though in the end.

Personally... I will be buying some ball bearings to keep in my front jacket pocket.... A casual over the shoulder toss should be enough to get their attention....

That, or glass marbles. These are also quite effective for getting tailgaters to back off.

Wow! That's a tough deal!:dontknow: We've all seen the humorous ways of dealing with the loonies who are out there... (STINGERS????)
As an insurance guy here in NYS, I'd say that IF she has any, it might not pay because the whole fracas started as a result of her intentional act. That makes it a law problem; push the local Police to do their jobs! In the meantime... try to find another route around her... the best way to avoid a problem is to not put yourself into the position. (IMHO!)
About a thousand years ago when I was in College , somebody dropped some ball bearings out of a pocket to get a cage to back off... The bearings kept bouncing until they killed a kid on a bicycle who just "got in the way..." Please keep the bearings at home in the parts bin!
Sometimes it just ain't worth it...

When I first had the Spyder(while these were still new to market), I had someone yelling at me while on I-10 to get off the road with that thing.

Why I love to take the westbound frontage road along I-10 and just fly from Tangerine to Eloy! The critters on the road scatter and wave their little paw fists at me when I fly by!

All except getting slapped in the face by that bat. And yes, I wish they'd get that frontage from Ina to Tangerine finished.

We have one of the "unbalanced", too, who resides on one of our favorite "twisty roads" to ride. It's a two lane, densely forested on both sides of asphalt, road. He lives quite far back in the woods and evidently has a couple of children because when he hears what sounds like any bikes coming, he runs down his lane to the public road and sometimes comes out into the lane with a hoe, a hammer, a saw, etc. and starts swinging as you go by. He has also been known to throw boards with nails, cans of loose nails, chains, etc. into the road way as you're passing by. He claims he's doing it to protect his "children" - like he lets them play in the road?! Basically, he's just unbalanced - and from the looks of him isn't wealthy by any means, so doubtful if he takes someone down or causes someone to run off the road or into an oncoming car, would definitely have no insurance to defray bike or medical expenses. Of course, you wonder when it might escalate from a hoe to a gun! It's a sad situation, but an on-going one that needs to be addressed by local officials.

New update

I told neighbors to get stuff on video and they did a good job yesterday catching her flashing herself and yelling and waving a baseball bat. She had court this morning. I got in contact with the victim's advocate who also showed up at court. I have a protective order against her now apparently, she is being held without bond for a psychological evaluation. She shaved her head, she was rather creepy the way she stared at me and another neighbor I got to show up to court today. I looked away at first but decided I didn't want her to think I was intimidated so I looked right back the entire time. The only charge was criminal recklessness (from her throwing paint on me while I drove by on my bike). They really botched it up though because there were tons of calls on her previously, one of which I made myself that they did not document. They are coming to pick up her animals tomorrow which is sad and I'm afraid they will be put to sleep and it isn't their fault they have a nutty owner. I'm exhausted and hope to sleep well for the first time in days.

Very interesting turn of events indeed. I do hope you are able to get some good rest as well.

wow

I saw this thread and I'm glad that it seems to have a good ending for you. I'm pretty sure she won't be coming back.

Depending on how many animals she has/had - could the neighborhood take on some of them?

On another note - when I saw I-10, I got all excited, because I-10 runs through my town. I forgot it's a llllooonnngg stretch of road (about 550 miles of it is in my state...)

I carry a gun with me when I drive/ride - always stays somewhere close to me. In my pocket if I'm on a bike, backpack if I'm walking, etc. Too many crazies out there.

Well if I was home and she walked in my house ranting and raving, she would have been all done, as in NOT breathing anymore.

Sure she's got a looney tune problem in the head, probably too many drugs as a youngin or something but still, she is a danger and if someone were to come at me IN MY HOME, all done, bubbye, Cya, Asta La Vista

I am also a strict Darwinist; it may not sound nice, but them them away from me if you want to pay for their continued existence...

Wow, here I thought I was all alone with the crazys next door. Sorry you got the new paintjob.

Yeah, cops don't want to deal with them, but thankfully most cops wont listen to them either. I have one who has decided the street is all his, and the one on the otherside talks to teddybears. (Maybe I can get my room moved down the hall.) I am very happy that they both sleep too late to paint my bike during trips from the house.

Note to self:

Don't mess with the Smylinacha if you want to live....:yikes:

That is what I mean by she was lucky it wasn't my home. BUT, that isn't something I want to do so not only was her behavior upsetting me, knowledge that she was getting worse and what I might have to do to defend myself was bothering me too. I hope to NEVER have to do that, because even if it was in self defense I would feel very bad about it and I just don't want to go there.

She'll be back probably in a month or less. If she isn't stabilized on medications it isn't going to be pretty, that I am certain of.

Exactly. I live out in the country and live on a fairly private road. No one comes down here unless invited. Like that country song says, "..protected by god and a gun. You're likely to meet both if you come around uninvited son."

Have had to do animal rescue from a person suffering from schizophrenia disorder and off their drugs. Very sad, but it can also be used as a reason to restart their drugs and regain control of their pets and their lives. I know it is hard to feel sympathetic towards people with a mental disorder when white paint has been thrown your black spyder. My spyder is now in the shop because a person with a problem with alchol ran into it. And I have anger issues. Good Luck.

Yep... I had some tool on I-71 north of Columbus do a bit of road rage on me two weeks ago.

I did nothing to provoke him... I'm glad I stayed patient and in control that time... I usually don't.

I'm glad your road rage incident worked out okay and that you kept your wits about you.

I nearly got killed in a really bad situation a few years ago and lost a really good friend when a guy with a bad case of road rage hit us in the right rear quarter panel of a Toyota truck, sending us into a suicide spin. We went over an embankment and our truck rolled truck 4 times. All totally unprovoked . . . he was just getting off from a bad day at work.:dontknow: thanks a lot, huh?!

Glad yours worked out okay. Sometimes it just doesn't matter . . . ya just can't fix stupid.

Cat :doorag:
