• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Alaska and the Dalton Highway

Ah jeeze, the road to the Arctic Circle is nicely paved with a gas station between Fairbanks and the Arctic Circle monument. You can make it there and back in a day. Once you get past Cold Foot, the road gets rough.

Don't let those hairy-scarums deter you from your goal.

Been there, done that, got the shirt....
Thanks Yazz, and Ahh-cool, and others for sharing. I wanted to do an IBA trip that required your one bike to go to Deadhorse from Key West. Rethinking that, but will at least get to the AC for a pic on the Spyder.
Will have to consider the San Ysidro to Goose Bay, Labrador UCC paved route.

CMA/IBA_rider, Could you elaborate. Does this apply to just the Dalton or any dirt roads?

I do not know. The only dirt and gravel road I've run up there was the Dalton Highway. My guess all the dirt roads would be treated the same.IMAG0421.jpg

Alright, Alright, I give up. I got my new bike today and I can't get myself to destroy it on purpose.
I am definitely going even if I have to rent a car

I bought a 750 Nighthawk for $2,000. Put a windshield on it with all my electronics a fuel cell and did the ride. Key West Florida to Deadhorse Alaska and back home. Carrie the set of dual sport tires to go on it up in Alaska. Got home took my stuff off of it and 6 hours of detailing it. Sold the bike for $2,100.7475876354_3b17be3e37_o.jpg
