• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Alarms

There as been a whole thread on public parking with lots of post about alarms, worth a read.

I'm looking into one myself at the moment, amazon seems to have the cheapest gorilla for $144 for the one with pager.

About to order but not sure if I'm technical enough to install.

I use the Gorilla alarm, but the basic model without pager to keep it simple.
It mainly serves to scare off jerks that just want to mess with your Spyder.
Pretty simple install if you squeeze it in next to the battery, and dont worry about installing the "tilt" feature! :roflblack:

I have the one with the pager and I think its worth the few extra bucks as it sounds off if the alarm goes off the bike so I can get back to it quickly or in the last incident, look up from the booth I was sitting at and watch the guy walking away after he set off a warning beep by stepping on peg.

Personally alarms and remote starts I only go with Viper or DEI .After many many alarm and remote start installs its the only one I trust. But that is me if you find something you like go for it . IM a big fan of if it aint broke dont fix it .

I can not speak for everyone, but most I believe including myself are looking more for a anti jerk deterrent. Not too worried about theft, parked in a garage over night, to hard to lift, coded key blah, blah, blah.

More to stop the unattended touching and sitting on type of thing. No harm in looking just don't touch.

Next time a spyder lover installs an alarm, please, please video and post for the inept like me.

What I want is an alarm that will notify me when someone gets on my bike, send me live video from a camera mounted on the dash, and let me yell at the jerk via an intercom on my key fob.

I LIKE THE GORILLA UNIT

Does anyone have the gorrilla alarm on there spyder?
What is a good alarm?

I've used the Gorilla alarm on my last 5 bikes, and think it's fairly fool-proof and easy to install and program. I only want it for the "warn away" feature, to keep the lookieloos from messing with it. On my RT-S I installed it against the back wall of the frunk, under the liner. It's out of the way, and loud enough to do its job.
Keep the shiney side up,

I had the Scorpio ir-900 on my RS. Great perimeter alarm and a pager to alert you if you arent close to the Spyder.

Every alarm is just a deterrent for theft . so as long as it has some sort of warn away then typically youll be okie dokie. Noiw if you want the video camera or some kind of electrical jolt to the twins then you can do that but I had nothing to do with it HA HA ...
