• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Alarm system or the Ride system? Anyone have these?

Alarm System and the Ride System. I am looking at both. I have insurance for theft, but it is bear to get them to pay you, they do, but they make you do all kinds of stupid stuff here. So doing something to make it safer is better for me in my situation in Mexico. I sorta like the idea of the Ride system because I can use the data to keep track of where I go, and can track the bike as well if stolen. While I know it has the key code to keep people from starting it up with a key, how hard is it to hot wire one of these? As to putting it on the back of a pickup or a flatbed this would be one group of serious thieves. I doubt that and if that did happen well, they wanted it bad enough to go that far. But you just never know. It is expensive, I know, but my bike is expensive too. Anyone own the Ride system? Is it just a gadget that later you don't pay attention to? (Like my fitbit braclet, I don't hardly bother with it anymore, fun for a couple of months) Anyway here is the website if you don't know what I am talking about. I did read what the other threads said about alarms and the i900 which seems pretty good too. http://ridescorpio.com/shop/

The fear here is that my bike is so unique here that one day they will stop me beside the road and just take it away from me. Being I have insurance that is ok with me as long as they don't a bullet or two in me.....just take the thing and let me LIVE!

I just called scorpio, i wanted to know about the perimeter alarm. they say it would need to be incorporated into one of the
full alarm systems they have. i don't know about you guys but i am not really worried about theft as i am touching.

Yes I too have an issue with touching, I just don't want people handling my bike, I catch them doing this all the time, and you might think I am being nasty but hey I worked my butt off to buy this thing, so well, I am being a bit greedy with it, it is my only toy, so for me there is no sharing, I don't let anyone else ride the thing even! haha oh well, it is what it is....here we do not have financing, so I had to pay for it outright.

You do have a special situation in Mexico. Safe is good. Let us know what you end up with. And...here is hoping that the installation of a system will negate the need for it. Reverse Murphy's Law.

Although it can be a real pain if you're just running small errands but a half cover might discourage tactile curiosity.

I have a half cover but I have to use a padlock and a steel rope to secure it or else it would disappear on me, and it might actually be a better option, pain in the pootie though....

While I lived in Mexico, kidnapping was the way it went. I've always figured, the more of a pain to steal your stuff, the less likely that it will happen. Sure if someone really wants it, they will get it, but they are few and far between. Most crooks are lazy and only go for the low fruit. Even if you ran a cable between all three wheels with a BIG lock, it will stop 99%. They'd take you first. Unique things are harder to unload. Check it out, cars with vanity plates are the least stolen here in the states.

I have a Scorpio i900 with perimeter alarm, I like it as it start with a small beeping and if they continue goes toa full on alarm, and lights flashing! Plus you can adjust the sensitivity. I find it prevents anyone from touching or sitting on my Spyder.:doorag:
