• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

alarm for spyder

When you purchase LowJack the installation is done by their technician for free at your house or work place. Got it last year in June.

LoJack Installation and Caveat

I don't know if you got my long explaination or not since I am new to Spyderlovers.com and didn't really know how to reply...the short of it is:

Do not buy a used Lojack from anyone, once it has been programmed for a particular vehicle that is it. The programming and coding info and data cannot be erased from LoJacks database or from the transmitter itself either by Lojack or anyone. So if you purchased a used LoJack you just wasted your money.

A new LoJack, transmitter, etc. must be installed by a Lojack Certified Technician. These technicians are given a special computer to send coding information and receive same back from LoJack Central. The tech receives a coded number in response from LoJack Central with respect to the data from the Transmitter he/she installed. Then within a certain time period you are required to register your new LoJack with the coded number received by the tech and given to you. Once these two steps are completed your LoJack is activated.

Caveat: During my motorcycle endorsement class there were several classmates, and the police instructors, who confirmed that LoJack is not what it is cracked up to be because of the variable involved:
1. Police force must have a cruiser with Lojack.
2. Once your bike moves 30 feet away from your FOB thing the message is sent. However, it takes 15 - 30 minutes before LoJack calls you and then you have to notify the cops (I don't know, but I doubt that LoJack automatically calls the cops for you).
3. 30 min. for LoJack to call you then you have to call the cops. then they have to get the cruiser with LoJack computer or whatever. It's at least an hour or two before the cops are picking up your transpoder to locate your bike, which by this time is stripped to easily migratable parts.
4. A couple guys in the class said that their bikes or even the LoJack Transmitters have still not been recovered.
5. Recommendation: For me I feel like I wasted the money on the LoJack, but it does provide a level of comfort. The police told me that thieves go after the easiest target they can get...the quiet bikes. I purchased the Stinger Alarm System and will install that (If LaMonster can show me how in one of his great how to's) otherwise it'll cost me another $400 for the dealer I ordered it through to install. So, now my comfort level will be REAL HIGH! LoJack plus and screamin' loud alarm system if someone so much as touches my beautiful 2010 Pearl White RS-S Spyder. Other Mods. 25" tall wide touring windshield, luggae rack and passenger back rest, Fog Lights, and 12V convenience outlet (cigarette lighter plug thing)
