Air Conditioner For Bikes

What a cool/ing idea...

You wouldn’t think that a motorcycle would need air conditioning but apparently there’s enough of a demand for it in hot desert climates that a company called Entrosys has created a system. It’s actually quite simple and ingenious- a small air conditioner is mounted to the back of the motorcycle with a tube that connects into the rider’s jacket. It can also work in reverse as a heater (which makes more sense to me but then again I’ve never ridden around on a motorcycle in Nevada… or anywhere for that matter).


A big advantage is safety- you can actually wear a thick proper riding jacket in hot weather. This totally reminds of the Cop Cool, btw- same concept.

I wonder if this could be hooked up to a PowerMac G4 motorcycle?
Now that’s what I call a casemod! Or a casemoto, I guess. Those PowerMac G4′s are the perfect size for a smaller person to sit on so it makes sense in someone’s world to make a motorcycle with a PowerMac G4 for the seat. Maybe not the most comfortable seat, but a seat nonetheless. It looks more like a toy-sized motorcycle but what do you expect from something made partially from an Apple computer?

I'm going out on the limb here but I think it's "snake oil". The amount of power needed for even the smallest compressor type cooling would suck the battery and recharging circuit down to nothing. You need "compression" to generate the heat or cooling cycle. Just look at the current needed for even a vary small air compressor. It's usually pretty high.

The physical size of the unit implies it's not going to be very efficient either.

Oh, I couldn't stand wearing it

I sometimes wear a Badlands pack with camel back reservoir system. Even that can be uncomfortable and it has cold drinks to help with the heat.

Their is a new technology out now in material that can lower its temp 10-20 degrees cooler with a little moisture. Swet activates it as well as just wetting it. They are now selling shirts made from this material. When you go to your home centers like home Depot, they have displays that sell the scarfs, towels and caps. I noticed on TV last night a commercial advertising shirts as well.

but then you could mount a generator in your trailer with an AC unit and pipe it up to ya...:roflblack::roflblack: I use the "Heat Out" undershirt and pants with a waterbead scarf and do fine...cycle gear carries the whole line....

I wear full gear, i don't see heat as a problem but i would like to keep a little cooler on my lugs & butt

You need compression to generate heat or cooling is not at all a true statement. I'm own my own Refrigeration and A/C business and yes all the stuff I work on has compressor, but I will give you an example of one system that everyone is familiar with that does not. A refrigerator in most RV's are 12 volt/gas and have no compressor. If you look at some of the reviews, I think the highest wattage draw was less than 200.

For the dollars, it's likely worth it....I probably have quite a bit tied up in mesh gear for summer, my heated liners, the big OMG it's -0f suit, mid range weather two pieces.....

Of course I couldn't get back even half what I paid for that stuff so making another $1500 investment isn't a reality.
