• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Air Cleaner inspection

I have a 2013 Spyder RT L and just did my own DIY oil change.

I thought that i would check the air filter while i have the body parts off. I believe this is the black box just under the steering mount. It appears that there are 8 clips, two front, back and each side. If that is it, how in the worl do you open the two on the front and close them again.

Once you get the clips open, how do you get the filter cover off?

Yikes!

Hey Joe,

if you're trying to take off the top of the airbox, don't. It's not under there. Over on the right side where the flexible duct from the resonator meets the air box, it forms a square plenum. There are 3 clips on that and two tabs that fit in slots on the back side. The air filter is in that square plenum area. You can remove the flexible duct - but it's kinda stiff - unclip the clips and then push / rotate the front part forward to expose the air filter. Then just work it out of there. Click on thumbnail for a bigger picture.

That was really helpful, once I did it. I would have never found that. I am only about an hour from you, maybe I should ryde up your way one day and see what other knowledge I can glean from you. I used to live in Huntsburg many eons ago.

Always glad to try to help. A picture always helps, too. Ah yes, Huntsburg and the great pumpkin festival. Would love to meet up - once the snow melts. I think I’ll try out Doc’s vibration dampener for the ribbed belt this year. We can compare notes.
