• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

AIR BOX OIL,, Question for those in the know???

Does the oil that enters there really cause any problems? Is the inlet tube on the filtered side or unfiltered side of the air stream? Would it be possible to put a bleeder valve at the lower part of the box and just let it collect there and drain it off once in a while? What about using a PCV valve. They were designed to only let passive air flow into the breather and would close under hard acceleration. What ya think? Don't shoot me, Please!

The oil leaves the airbox through a couple of drain holes. It splatters all over the front of engine, wires, electrical connectors, pretty much everywhere.

Since I installed my crankcase breather catch can I seem to use less oil. I wonder if the vacuum in the airbox was drawing in oil? I am also more careful about adding oil to the crankcase. Checking the oil level on a Spyder is technical artistry. I use a Kuryakyn breather tank which I thought might be a little too small, but it has been just fine, so far.

For the oil-in-airbox fix, which direction should the air flow through the added-on air drier and air filter?

The direction of flow is- Engine through catch can/air drier and then to and through small air filter. The connection to the airbox is now plugged with whatever fits or whatever you have that will work.

My airbox does not seem to have any drain holes :dontknow:- oil collects mostly in the left hand corner (from riders perspective). So, I cleaned it once at 2K+ miles and saw about a 1/2 teaspoon pool of oil, with a thin coat throughout most of the left side of box - none near air filter.

Hopefully, this BRP designed airbox oil collection system does not put me in danger:yikes:
