After a wet ride it's time for a good blow job

A clean Spyder is a happy Spyder, my Metro Air Force Blaster Motorcycle Dryer review.

There are some that like to ride hard and put away wet, then there are some that like to just polish and shine their ride for the local bike night and only manage a thousand miles on a year. Now me, I like to ride hard and put away dry!

After my monsoon ride home from Lake Placid Saturday I needed to give the Spyder a good going over and I thought I would review the Metro motorcycle dyer. However before I do that we need to start at the beginning and get her wet (again) first. Hence my twofur, a mini review inside a review.

As Seen On Tv Water Jet.

I have one of those gas powered pressure washers that can blow the socks off anything, we use it to power wash the drive and odd stuff around the house. It's too powerful to wash the Spyder or the ATV's. Most water hose attachments don't generate enough pressure, however this is one of the info commercial items that actually works as advertised. They sell these at Target for $19.99, if you go to Target within the next 10 minutes you can get another one for free, yes two Water Jets ( just pay separate processing of $19.99 at the register for the second). I don't normally buy info commercial gadgets but as they sell these in a local store so that if it didn't work I could return it. This attachment gives you enough pressure to blow the dirt and crime off but not enough that it could cause damage to bearings. This is one of those highly recommended gadgets, I use it to pre-wash the Spyder to give it a good soaking. Then rise off the soap and suds.

Then I use a good quality wash, I won't state that I use Honda Glare Wash, because last time I did it turned into a best oil to use thread. Just to say what I have been using for years contains amongst other ingredients, fairy dust, unicorn horn and a smidgen of dragons blood, but will remain nameless to keep this thread on track.. So after a good sponge bath and a good rinse off using the ASOTV water jet its all set to dry.

Metro Air Force Motorcycle Blaster Dryer B3-CD

I've been looking at one of these for years but never was convinced to spend the money, however my family bought me one for my Birthday back in July. I have since wondered why I waited so long this thing is great. I would normally spend hours with a shammy drying the surface of the Spyder only to find some drips later on from all the nooks and crannies. Now this device is not perfect but it goes a long way to a perfect finish.

Like any good blow job its all about the technique, a poor technique will just leave you deflated, unsatisfied and wondering why you spent all the time up front getting her wet. With a little practice and a good technique you will finish with smile and a sense of satisfaction, starting at the top and working your way down shaking the hose as you go. But seriously, it takes some getting use to, other wise you end up chasing water all over. This thing blows out water from places you never even knew had water and does it in record time.

The unit is made in America of steel construction and looks like it will last a life time, it weighs 8 lbs and comes with a 10ft heavy-duty, crush proof hose with four interchangeable attachments. The hose is stiff and takes some getting use too. Because of the stiff hose the unit tips over all the time, I recommend getting the dolly (wheel) attachment this makes it easier to move around and prevents tipping. The nozzle is rubber tip so it won't scratch the paint if you accidentally touch the surface.

The unit is very powerful, it as a 4.0 peak horsepower motor with replaceable bushes, it blows out water from all those areas you can not get too, behind the seat, the speaker grills behind the windscreen etc. The air is warmed and filtered so you get dry clean high pressure air. There have been lots of comments about people using leaf blowers instead of this device, I have a leaf blower and trust me there is no comparison, I would not trust blowing the Spyder with the leaf blower. They say that this cuts drying time down by 75% I would agree but as stated before you need to practice the first few times I used it I was chasing water droplets around for ages.

Starting from the back, top down I found holding the hose loosely and wafting back and forth works the best, the water beads and rolls off the Spyder forcing down and out. Then I dry the seat and worked down the sides. After that its the wheels and axels as these tend to splash water all over the place. Then it the windscreen, dash and the front last.

I no longer use the shammy and finish in record time with no water smears. A good wax on the Spyder will help the water bead and roll off. If you like a clean Spyder but hate the drying then I high recommend this quality product.

I give this five unicorn horns out of five.

If I'm too in a hurry to use a towel...

I use a VersaPak powered Black & Decker leaf blower to dry my Spyder!

You could probably dry your wiener dog with that also.

They actually say they are pet dryers as well, one of the pamphlets they include shows the same model being use at a pet groomers.

However I would never use this on a small dog, we have Yorkies and it would leave them hairless :roflblack:, its way too powerful

I use a small shop vac, I put the hose on the exhaust, Not only does it blow air, The air coming out is warm so it drys faster.
