• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

advise please

Hey everyone.

I posted this on the other forum but thought I would try here as well. I am having a problem with my 2011 RTS semi auto (under 300 miles). There is a loud squeeky noise around the front tire area when accelerating. If you let off on the throttle, the sound stops immediately. Braking seems to have no affect. I had so looked forward to riding this weekend but now I am concerned that I might cause damage to the bike if I continue to ride it.

Hubby was going to check drive belt but does not have the correct tool to remove the panels and our dealer is closed.

Any thought or ideas what this might be???

Thanks,
Dee

Don't know what the noise is but there should be all the tools needed to remove the panels under the seat in the tool kit.:welcome:

Yes we went through the tool kit that came with the bike, but it was not there. Its the special wrench that has kinda like a "star allen wrench". Not sure if it was missing or just not included.

Thanks anyway.

Dee

they are called "torx" bits, you can get an inexpensive set at any hardware store either to fit a ratchet or screwdriver types.

Actually that is what we thought, in fact we hubby has several sets but he said this one was unique and what he has will not work. Will look further.
Again, I appreciate any suggestions. I guess I am just sad that its a nice afternoon and I can't get out and ride. Oh well there is always next weekend.

If your referring to the 2 silver security ones on both left and right panel those do not come out they hold the male part that attache to grommets.
do not remove them...

Freebob..:doorag: Hope that makes sense to you

If you are indicating the ones with the raised pin in the center they do not have to be removed to get the panels off, they hold a pin that goes into a rubber grommet to seciure the panel. these just pull out,be careful not to lose the grommet. The manual describes how to remove the panels although you do not have to remove nearly as many parts as they indicate. Look at Lamonster's post on how to change oil on an RT to get an idea of how to save some steps. Hope this helps, good luck!

Your wife lets you come upstairs??? He must stay there to care for my Spyder. I even let him ride it when it needs gas:)
