• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Advice on Elka

I would like to get an Elka stage2 rear shock for my 2015 f3s. My wife will be riding as a passenger for only 25% of the time so I'm not sure if I should go with remote adjustment. I do have Leatherworks saddlebags mounted on easybrackets so I'm not sure of where to mount the adjuster. My questions are: How difficult is it to adjust the shock without the remote? Would you recommend ordering the shock directly from Elka or order it thru Pitbull Powersports (I read somewhere that a guy named Len was the one to talk to). Thanks for any tips on the topic.

If you are going to adjust the rear shock after installation, go with the remote adjustable. Adjusting the preload once on the bike is a PIA. There are a number of places to mount the remote along the frame, they give you enough material to reach a variety of locations on the bike.

Keep in mind this little known fat about Elkas. They require you to send them back once a year for 'Rebuilding", otherwise the warranty is voided. I don't remember who told me this, but I seem to remember that it was someone who knew what he was talking about. You can always contact Elka & ask them.

This is NOT TRUE and was cleared up by Elka here on Spyderlovers last year.

What was your technique?

Just as the manual stated. Loosened the hex nut with the provided hex key. Then turned the preload ring with the provided tool. Clockwise (as looking from top) to increase preload, counterclockwise to decrease preload. Very simple.
