Advice needed for new riders

Which is the best of the two? Chatter box xbi bluetooth wireless or
the Scala rider teamset pro? Also on the 2012 rt se5 limited is it normal
to hear a sound from around the front between 35 -45 mph that
sounds like a bad wheel bearing? Checked both sides & can't find
anything wrong but have been told this is normal at that speed.
The sound has been there from the start and only have 400 miles
on the bike. :dontknow:

What kind of sound? If it is a clicking sound, it may be normal. The sound the perforated disc makes when the openings pass the brake pad are quite audible sometimes. There is also a noticeable click when applying the brakes. A squealing sound or grinding sound would not be normal. If you have this sound, be sure of the origin. There have been a lot of reports of belt sqeal at the front sprocket. BRP is aware, but they have not issued a fix, to the best of my knowledge.

I have a Scala Rider G4. I really researched this online heavily before purchasing. The reason being that the helmet and how much noise it lets in effects the hearing quality of the bluetooth. I found a website that helped me make my choice was http://www.webbikeworld.com they review bikes and gear. For myself and my girl, I went with a Nolan N90 helmet and use the Scala Rider as the review on the N-COM system was not that great.

I have used the Scala Rider G4 all of this past riding season here VT, after 3,000 miles I do not regret going with the helmet or the Scala Rider G4. But please note this is just my opinion on the equipment I have. I don't think you can go wrong with Scala.

What it sounds like is a rump,rump like when a wheel bearing is
going bad. A guy that has a 2011 limited said he has heard the
same noise from his and the dealer told him, oh thats just a normal
sound from some of the bikes,nothing to worry about. His noise is
also around the same speed. Since we have the same dealer i thought
it would be a good idea to check this out before i go in for their opinion.
If a wheel bearing seizes up you could have a bad day.

I have had both. I sent the Chatterbox back. Compared to Scala, it did not work as well.

It is hard to tell what your "rump, rump" sound is. If it is heavier than a mild click, it could be a wheel weight hitting the steering cotter key. A few riders have had that. Close inspection for adequate clearance will tell you. The disk brake sound is normal, and makes a light clicking or popping sound as the perforations pass the brake pads. A "thump, thump" sound can indicate a bad tire. If it will put your mind at ease, I have never heard of a wheel bearing failure on a Spyder.

My suggestion to you is to go ride your dealer's demo Spyder. If you hear the same sound, it is normal. If not, ask them to explain the difference...and repair the problem.

Thanks a lot, that's what i had in mind. Before i compare my bike with the dealers
i just wanted to check up on this noise. The guy that told me his does the same
said he has not had a problem with the wheel bearings but it does sound as if it's
in that area.Also the old geeser ( 67 years) told me he just completed a 100 mile
trip with his cruise set at 95. I would say bearings has to be good.

No, I'll bet you don't see yourself as a 67 year old geezer. No reason why you should, enjoy your youth while it's there, it won't last. At 74 years, my being 67 again has some attraction, but it ain't possible to go back, the years are fixed only to advance. Enjoy it, boy.

Ok,i'll lay off the old guy. The reason i call him an old geezer is
because he is one year older than me. Sometimes i refer to him
as the one with the most experiance just to make him feel
important,know what i mean.
