• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Adding Bluetooth to your Spyder sound system for cheap

Good to know...

Thanks for the info and passing it on to the masses....will help many no doubt..:firstplace:

Thanks for the info. What is the specific make or brand ? ,there are quite a few to choose from

Thanks in advance

I just ordered 10 of them for stock so I'll have a link here soon
that's why I could not find it on amazon:joke: what is the amazon # or specific brand or any thing that will help me order one or two, this could work on my jeep wrangler as well

You need to have the parking brake set before you play the radio with the key off, otherwise the nagging beep does not stop like it normally will after 20 seconds. That's on the RT anyway. I suppose it's the same on the F3.

Lamont, I noticed you held the mode button in while you turned off the ignition. Does it work that way on the RT also? I always turned the key off, and then push the mode button while Spyder is still showing on the screen.

On the 2014 RT you would plug the dongle into this bluetooth that is in the trunk? So the music is on the Aux setting?

If you get an iPod specific BT receiver you plug the iPod cable into it in the trunk. Then of course, you pair the receiver and your phone. That gives you audio connection plus the charging connection. It shows up as AUX on the audio screen. I have that and it works great. The phone is up front where I can control it. I use it to listen to Pandora while riding.

I ordered one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bluetooth-Mu...0AAOSwpDdVHmcu for the RT-L and going to give it try . :dontknow: Looks like it should work the same way by using the provided iPod cord and power it at the same time.
Too bad you didn't happen to read Finless's discussions about this, or maybe it was an answer to me, before you bought this. The one you ordered, and the one I have, are BT 2.0 compliant. I have to reconnect the phone and receiver any time the power to the iPod cable gets cut off, which includes the moment you are starting the bike. I have to do this by disconnecting and reconnecting the receiver. I think they will also connect if you turn the phone on immediately after starting the bike, which means you have to put it into its cradle and all that while it's on. That can be a problem if you hit the power button while cradling it. Bob said BT 4.0 gets around this issue and automatically reconnects whenever the two items are powered up. I haven't tried a BT 4.0 receiver to confirm this.

I have one on the clock radio and never thought about the power being on all the time on it. That makes sense on the reconnecting for the Spyder but it still works for me.

i did the exact same thing with my RT a while back but in the rear truck. Cost like maybe 20$ i think from amazon and works great. I dont and will never have an iphone so cant adjust tracks but i always just shuffle all my music so its all songs i like anyway :)
works great for GPS directions. Great tip!

Bluetooth for cheap....dose not work on the RT!!!!

Got to say it was a good idea but its false dose not work on the RT! I bought one thinking like you said plugged it in and thinking it would work but what you forgot to mention is it needs power for it to work, and the rt cable dose not supply any power!!!!:gaah:You may want to mention this,,,,,,

The iPod cable does but not the other one. That's why it's better to get a BT receiver with the iPod connetor.

If you see nothing happening when you plug it in then cable is bad, or receiver is bad, or your truck system is defective. Does it work in your RT?

what cable would you use? there are 2, 1- is a jack the other is the 30 pin ipod cable. That's the one I have I plug it in my ipod and everything works but it dose not charge the ipod, and there lies the problem the Bluetooth receiver need power from the cable that dose not supply..I'm going to have to buy the cable with the jack at the end....:doorag:

You are using the 30 pin connector cable, right? If it's not charging with that cable then something is wrong. Power, audio, controls, it all goes through the 30 pin connector.
