There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Accident

I got into an accident on my Spyder Friday night. Cuts, bruises, and sworeness everywhere. Spyder has front end damage wont know the extent until Monday. Anyone knows of a good body shop in Ft. Lauderdale

So glad you weren't hurt too badly. Hope you heal quickly and find a good place to fix your spyder as well. You didn't give any details. May I ask what happened?

Heading east person jumped into my lane. Three wheels don't swerve as quick and clipped the the rear. I'm lucky to be in one piece no broken bones or anything major.

Glad to hear the accident wasn't more serious. Hope the other driver stopped to see what he/she had done.

The time I almost got clipped was also dusk. I had all of my lights on and the dingbat driver still didn't see me and tries to cut out and stopped the last minute.:gaah: So now I made a point NOT to ride after dark.

Glad you weren't hurt bad.

After Dark

I Agree about the danger at dusk because the lights really aren't seen.. At night I love my spyder ride.. It is lit up like a Christmas Tree or glow bulb and can be seen from a mile away.. I feel safer then than in daylight.. Dusk and dawn have already been prime wreck times for all vehicles. I can't blame that on the Spyder visibility

Sorry to hear about your accident. Make sure that the frame is not damaged. About the ability to quickly swerve on a Spyder, your front shocks must be set at the stiffer position and/or upgrade your sway bar.

dusk driving

Had a similar experience last Thursday. At speed on Hwy 10 heading home from a dentist appointment. A car decided to try to pass a slow truck and pulled out moving me to the wide shoulder. Horn and flashed lights to get their attention. When I got home I ordered more lights for the front end and fenders. Hope additional lighting makes me stand out in traffic.

Glad that you are ok ,
:agree: The low-light conditions always seem to bite us on the bottom... THAT'S why I'm tyring to talk the Missus into letting me light mine up so that it can be seen from orbit... I want to blind the cages so that they juist want to get out of my way.
:2thumbs:

Glad you're ok. Soreness will last awhile I'm sure. Let us know how the :spyder2: faired when you can.

 Glad to hear you are still in one piece. The :spyder2: will either resurrect or become a new one. Good luck on that task!

:agree: On everyone else's statements on having more lights. Although during the day it doesn't make much of a difference, at night my Gray Recluse is seen from a good distance with my white TRICFENDZ, LED fender tip lights and the GloRyders. Hopefully I will get some new TricRings and Brightsides for the fenders and saddle areas, and also LED brakelight.:firstplace:

:dontknow:
8 ft wide 11 ft high bright yellow school bus with red lights flashing and a strobe light on top also flashing, and people still run into them.
All the lights in the world won't help if the other guy is driving with their head up their A**.

I agree with the fender lights. Mine are amber to the front, red to the rear. Check the law on this. Ohio says no white light to the rear.
I disagree with blinding the other guy. They you would have two people in trouble.

I am not sure anything works. Police escorted PGR mission. I have seen them come over on a Police bike with lights on. Even worse, person tried to break into Funeral for a Police Officer. Most ot the vehicle were police vehicle with lights on.
The again, you have to drive to a ??? A guy was killed here crossing a street because his cell was more important.

The importance of more lights/brighter lights is relative to each individual. I have never added any additional or brighter lights on any motorcycle I have owned in over 40 years. The disregard for safety of either the car driver or the motorcycle rider will cause an accident, no matter what. We should all ride with caution, avoid blind spots, excessive speed in traffic, forget the 2 second rule (give the car all the room it wants...it's a no-win situation if you don't), loud mufflers will irritate car drivers more than it will protect you (to them all you are is noise), all the rules written about safe riding will not save you if you don't drive with common sense. I know many will not agree with me, but that's the rules I have lived by and survived since 1966.

:agree:Too many lights or too bright will just tend to blind or irritate or confuse oncoming drivers/riders.

Good info in this thread... Very sorry to hear of the accident. :(

Just wanted to add... Blind spots are blind spots. No amount of lighting will make any difference. Not everyone looks in their mirrors as often as the should or for as long as they should.

This is way I am always getting upset that folks take the space in my lane (Three second rule) because they drive in the 1 second or less world. But if needed I bring my bike into their side window so they know I am there. Removes the blind spot issue most of the time...

Just because we ride safer bikes with twice the width of most two wheelers does not mean cagers will not make mistakes. In fact... In the last few years most claims of my clients are cagers cutting off another cager. It is not Bike specific, it just hurts us more... nojoke
