Greetings from Texas .... couple of years ago, I took a trip to the UK on business. Not used to driving "on the left" so only hired a car once I was at my destination (Hursley Park) -- so, took a car service from London Heathrow to Winchester and just drove the car between Winchester and Hursley Park. Anyway, since I was the only person in the car on the way to Winchester, I sat in front and the driver and I had a really nice conversation. Turns out that he is a motorcycle rider ... at the time I wasn't riding, but was dealing with the aftermath of hubby's accident 7 months earlier and mentioned that hubby was riding again on a Harley Davidson (Honda was totaled in the accident). Sooooo...... driver proceeds to tell me about his buddy that had a Custom Harley Davidson there in the UK and that this fellow as a real stickler for using HD branded parts when something was needed. Apparently, needed a rather unique part and placed a call to HD directly in the states ..... of course, first question is VIN number. After that was provided, things got real quiet. A long pause later, was asked to repeat the VIN -- since it didn't change, HD then asked if he had ever taken the seat off. :hun: Nooo, had not. HD then pleasantly asked him to do so, this is what he found under the seat (I can only describe it).
A custom painted panel with the following words on it: "To Elvis, from Billy Idol" nojoke
Apparently, this was a custom built machine that Billy Idol had given to Elvis Presley and that HD had lost track of years ago. WOW! How it ended up in the UK is as much of a mystery as how HD lost track of it.
Brings a smile to my face every time I think about this -- thought some of our members could use a smile ..... All the best .... Ann
