• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A Stealth Spyder?

I know I'm not the only one. If you could get the quiet of a BMW or Goldwing without messing with your power or performance on the engine would you get that muffler?

You engineer/engine guru's how about a 1000 -1100 - 1200cc muffler off of a BMW bike would one of these work?

Might need some minor adapting (cut/weld) But could it work? If I can get the answer which one will work. :helpsmilie: I can get the cutting and welding done. I'm hoping that it won't cost more than the performance units.

Look forward to your input, Thank You All

I have grown quite used to riding "stealth bikes" with my BMWs. I wouldn't mind a quieter RTS. For one thing, the muffler sound interferes with the music. :D

You don't specify which model you are talking about. For the GS/RS, adapting another muffler to make it quieter would be difficult. The sportier model has the cat converter within the muffler assembly, and that would also have to be replaced to keep things as quiet. The original can is already huge...quieter would be even larger.

For the RT, it might be possible. That has a separate cat. The other bikes you mention have similar or larger displacements, so their exhausts might well work. The V-twins run differently than opposed or inline engines however, and would present some possible challenges to quiet the exhaust note down sufficiently. I suspect some enterprising owner may try this someday, but it will take a lot of cutting, welding, and fitting, so it won't be for the faint-hearted. Those of us that prefer the quiet seem to be in the minority. It may take a while to find someone with the desire, equipment, and compulsion to test another system. :D

Just want to say that I would also be interested in a quieter RT muffler. I know that engine characteristics and firing order make a difference in how an exhaust system works but I'm not smart enough to know just how so I'm not gonna try anything on my own. But I also know that aftermarket suppliers look at numbers so here's anothe one that would be interested in quiet.

I appreciate the offer! You are pretty safe, though...I haven't been to the Left Coast in 40 years. If you are ever near Michigan, give us a shout. :D

welcome

Hey Buck, where in the SF Bay Area are you? We're in East Contra Costa. Would love to ride with you sometime. We're having a ride on this Sunday.
