• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. A Sad Affair

I dropped Mr. Cognac off at Coyote Powersports here in Boerne this morning. I traded Big Red 1 in and asked my CB and XM radio be moved to Mr. C. As the Spyder tech talked to BRP about what was needed, he learned the 2010-2013 CBs are not compatable with the 2014-15 models and I must get a new wiring harness and a new '14 CB. AND the XM radio can not be hooked up to the new harness IF it has a CB....bad crossfeed or ?? Anyway I need the CB for my group travel and will have to do without my XM. The tech was told by BRP that they are trying to do away with CBs and they can only be sold in the U.S. due to frequency differences in foreign countries. To say the least, I am disappointed with BRP....

10-4; good Buddy...
I hooked my XM Onyx receiver up to the radio, with the MP3 player cable. plugged it into the 12 volt plug in the top trunk, and I'm good to go with it!

I'm sure there is a way to get both CB and XM radio. BRP may not have a plug & play setup for it. But I wouldn't give up on it.

Have to agree..!!

there must be a way just not with brp's systems. They were having problems with the 2014 CB's anyway. Hang in there...

If you think CB are out of date, I would guesss you have never ridden with a Gold Wing Club. They are great on Group rides and if you see a guy going the other way call on the CB. Lots of other bikes have them as well.

Before being too disappointed with BRP, Keep in mind that they do not make the radios that go in the Spyders. They get them from another manufacturer. That manufacturer probably changed their electronics, and that forced BRP to make changes accordingly.

I suspect BRP is as much a victim in this ordeal as you are.

Upgrade your Garmin 660 to the 665 with the hockey puck XM and you are there, complete with weather overlay!

I ride with the Hill Country Road Riders. Many times I lead or sweep and we us CBs to keep the group together...usually 12-18 riders. The only common communication we have is with a CB as there are many other methods if all have the same equipment, which the don't.

I, as a ham radio operator, licensed since 1952 know that 11 meters (CB freq.) is the poorest frequency to use...that is why the gov't. gave it to all to use.....at home, with my 70' tower and HF antenna's I talk the world...I visit with a friend in Australia often....no matter what time of the day or night, some ham is awake somewhere in the world. When I built my home, I insulated my "radio room" so not to bother the family with 0300 hour visits with Japan or Russia. I also put in many 110v outlets and one 220v to run my amplifier.

That said, I will continue to use my CB for my group riding safety and convenience....I also enjoy visiting with the truckers on long trips.....I followed one the other day from Ft. Stockton to Boerne....I stopped when he refueled, did the same, and we had coffee and a great visit. I have use for my "outdated CB".

The radio is the central hub all things connect to. Cb, XM, GPS, etc all connect through harnesses to the radio.
So if something changed causing you old CB and XM not to work on 2014 model then its the radio.
My bet is if they take the radio out of your old RT and the harnesses for CB and XM and put all of that in your 2014, it will work.

Conflict with ipod control too i bet, it all comes down to software &$$$$! I believe the cb function would be primary and you ,could run XM from aux port(no controls) and or get creative and visit 3rd party audio shop,¿ g'luck

Good thinking, Bob. However it would make my trade in (2011) unsaleable for my dealer....the XM is not a show stopper for me. Thanks

XM Radio

I have a 2014 RT-S, I ran a power cord w/3.5 mm ?? plug from the trunk up to the handle bar area & mounted my Sirius radio there, plays thru the BRP system under Aux. I also have the factory CB, w/no problems. Any questions PM me. MarcusB

I will say one thing. The entertainment harness that hooks the XM and CB radio to the main radio has changed 4 times since the RT has come out. What those changes are I have no clue but I believe it is changes to the CB radio itself not the main radio. Up until 2014 models, I never heard anyone state things did not work using either of the 3 Entertainment harness! So whatever the changes were to it, it seems trivial.

However Steve Duke told me for 2014 the harness changed and is not backwards compatible! I seriously doubt the main radio is the reason but I am unsure! Probably the new CB. So "maybe" have them try that?

So another way might be just to use your 2011 ENT harness and CB/XM and see if it works. I have a feeling it will.

FYI the main radio is made by Radio Sound as well as the CB and XM. I contacted them a year ago asking for pin out specs and they would not give it to me saying it is propritary to thier customers (like BRP and other motorcycle makers that use that radio).
