• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A request for an additional feature, 'Return to Top of Page', if possible

On some other sites, I've noticed a floating button that returns the user to the top of the forum.
As a specific example, this can be helpful if the user has scrolled to the bottom of a thread and then wants to return to the navigation menu.
If I'm in the middle of a long thread and I want to look at something else, I have to scroll to the top of the thread to expose the navigation menu.
A floating "TOP" button would make it easier.
I know, this is a First World Problem...................
Or am I missing something?

I think you're missing something ...... in the upper left corner of my computer screen (desk top type) .... there is a "return" arrow .... clicking on it, returns me to where I started .... good luck .... mike

There should be at least One 'TOP' Button down in the Bottom Right corner of the screen, probably Two - there should be one immediately under the bottom right corner of the last post in the thread & above/before the Quick Reply box (altho that one may only be visible if you have access to Quick Navigation tools, & I don't know if everyone does have that access? However, it at least appears that you do have that access?!?) and then another waaay down in the bottom Right corner of the page/screen, as far down as you can go, to the far right of and in the same line as the Contact Us button.

I'm not seeing the "TOP" button in the thread view, and the "BACK" arrow is greyed out because this thread was the first view I looked at.
Here's a copy of full my screen.

That's not really your 'full screen', cos we can see that the light grey 'page scrolling block' on the far right edge of the page is in the middle of that edge, not right down the bottom of the edge; and just inside that, the black border of the page is being cut off at the bottom (lower) edge on both sides - you need to scroll right down as far as you can go so that you can (possibly only momentarily) see the black border below the page going right across the screen, not just on the right and left as far as the Forum page appears - there should be (well, might be anyway ;) ) one Top button on the far right in the line BELOW the '+ Reply to Thread' button that's on the left - go over to the right side of the page, next line down, if you've got it then it should have a greyed out 'Quick Navigation' followed by buttons like:

'Forum Support & Testing' 'Go' 'Top'

And then there'll be another Top button further down at the almost absolute bottom of the page, below the listing of 'Members who have read this Thread: 68' box; the 'Tags for this Thread' box; the 'Posting Permissions' box; and even below the Sponsor's Logo (Stinger Trailers Dealers Wanted ??) that's down there too - right in the bottom line, on the far right of the line that has the 'vB style' button on the left, with the white Contact Us button showing somewhere around the middle of the page, and usually an Archive button then Top - it's at the absolute bottom of the page, you can't scroll any further, altho there's probably some 'greyed out' bunf displayed below it - looks something like this:

If you are not at the bottom to access this "top" button, simply hit the "HOME" button on the keyboard! Also, use the "END" button to get to the bottom of the page if needed.... Also, "Page Up & Page Down" to move a full screen at a time through the page... The "Arrow" keys can take over scrolling with the mouse wheel also! ;-)

I was going to suggest that except with the variation I mostly use, Ctrl-Home or Ctrl-End. Home and End sometimes only take you to the beginning or end of the sentence or line. Using Ctrl for sure takes you the top or bottom of the page or document.

Many have forgotten, or maybe never even knew, about keyboard shortcuts that still work from the pre-Windows DOS days. That's 40 years ago! Man, I can hardly believe I've sullied my fingers on computer keyboards for over 55 years now!

I cannot find now how I did this on Spyderlovers... been a while now... and I have done this on other forums.
After a thread opens the most recent posting is at the top of the page, right in front of me. I don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the most recent one. I do scroll down to catch all the posts that immediately came before it to catch up - usually just a few. Then I just hit the back arrow at the top left of the computer page to take me back to the page with the thread titles.

You can choose to have any threads you open appear that way in your Profile. Bear with me here, there's a few steps:

Go to Settings, up in the Top Right corner of the page & click on it, it's just to the Left of Log Out; then scroll down thru all the Red options in the Left Hand column, past My Settings, DBTech, & Spyder Garage until you find My Account; in there, click on General Settings, which should be 2nd option in that block, then click on that; that'll open the General Settings page for your username. Once you're in there, go down past the Login & Privacy block; on past the Messaging & Notification block; until you hit the Thread Display Options block. In that block, you'll want to scroll past the Visible Post Elements options & click on the Thread Display Mode options box to see the drop down options list where you'll want to select Linear - Newest First instead of the Default Linear - Oldest First - Newest First should be 2nd in the list; Select that, then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page & hit Save Changes. That'll save the changes you just made & should update the way things appear next time you open a thread, but if it doesn't, you might need to log out, close the Forum & your computer down, count to 10, & then restart everything...

Drop me a PM if you have any hassles - I don't think I can change any of that for you, but I might be able to work out why it's not working as outlined. Good Luck!
