• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A question or 2 about the Spyderpops block off plate and the lowerpans

I'm trying to understand the block off plate. Does it just work on the right side? and is there anything to be gained by removing both side lower pans(?) without the block off plate installed?

Thanks.

Ride safe,

Yes, the block off plate only works on the right side, where the radiator fans exhausts hot air. I removed both bottom pans before getting the block off plate which lessened (IMO) the heat buildup under the tupperware. I installed the upper block off plate after having highway pegs installed to keep the hot air from the radiator off my right foot.

Removal of both plates might be a good choice even if you don't install the block off plate. The right side to reduce the heat from the radiator. The left side to make oil changes easier. Some people worry about the possibility of damage from debris strikes. I've not had any on either of our Spyders and have not heard of reports from others, but this does not mean it hasn't happened. Give it some thought to determine if you are comfortable with the risk.

There's more to this than meets the eye.... Adding the blockoff plate and removing the (rh) pan will likely give some relief....

but, if you then start cutting or drilling openings in the swoosh area behind the radiator the situation changes. When I did that I started to get much more heat flowing upward at highway speeds. When I re-installed the -rh- pan things settled down.

It takes some experimenting to find the best solution for your bike. It may also depend on which footboards or footrests you have installed, or other mods such as Baker airwings.
