• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

After tagging along vicariously on others' rides herein, this little ride pales in comparison, but it accomplished its purpose of creating new memories.

David Smith and I met with 2 of his riding buddies in North Georgia for a wandering ride to Tellico Plains TN and the short jaunt over to the newly-opened viewing area of Bald River Falls... a nice job was done (sorry no pics due to no parking).
Dave and I continued by taking the newly-paved Turkey Creek Road back to the Cherohala Skyway. Turkey Creek Road is much-improved, but be cautioned that it's VERY narrow with no shoulders.

Onward across the Cherohala to Maggie Valley.
We rode North and East the next day, then South and West the 2nd day for a total of around 450 miles, targeting :

  • TN 32- both directions - a double handful of switchbacks and elevation changes;
  • Trust General Store - always on our list of places to take a break;
  • The Rattler
  • Crossing French Broad River multiple times;
  • Checking out Marshall NC flood damage from Hurricane Helene. The bridge there was featured in news coverage after the Hurricane, showing water and debris flowing OVER the bridge. Marshall is slowly recovering.
  • The great riding roads around Cashiers and Highlands NC
  • Bridal Veil Falls
  • A bit of BRP
  • AND... we saw a couple of Elk and 2 bears, one of which ran between us, barely missing Dave's front tire!
