• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A new sport for me....

I don't think I'll ever get the hang of it. I'm currently on crutches. The hard part is only being able to weight bear on one leg. It' been 3 days now, and I'm only getting slightly better. It's even worse outside in the snow and ice. I think I'll see if they have studded tips. I am pretty good on stairs. I hand my gf the crutches, and on the way down I can take up to 3 stairs at a time, and 2 stairs going up. I had to stop with the 3 stairs down, as it is hell on the one good ankle, and didn't want to end up in a wheel chair. The only up side is my gf now waits on me, and also reminds how stupid I am for ending up with crutches. Oh yeah, the other upside is I get to use my sick days at work. I'm always thinking positive.

I have a walking stick with a pointed metal tip, carbide I think, that I use on snow and ice, but I don'y know if they make them for crutches. I need to look into that for my cane, this will be the first winter of full time cane use for me.

Sorry to hear....

Sorry to hear about your new found sport....:gaah: but it seems your doing well as you have more upsides and positve attitude. Hope you heal well and give it time to do just that...

crutches

Sorry to hear about this.:gaah: ... As to the no -slip tip …. PM me you address and I'll send you two metal disks that you can screw onto the crutch tips …… they are reverse dimpled and will prevent them from slipping ….. PS - what size are your crutch tips …… Mike

For REAL excitement try going down the stairs with your crutches. You get out over about 3 steps in a hurry and then need to swing back before you crash. BTDT. Good Luck.

I am participating in the same sport. Foot operation 2 weeks ago tomorrow. On Tuesday, Dr. said no weight on foot for another 2 weeks and then I should get a walking boot. I am fortunate that we don't have any stairs at home. Using a 4 wheeled knee scooter and getting around pretty good on the hardwood floors. I can get from the family room all the way to the bathroom with just one push. Wife went to Wallyworld and bought a white, pink, and yellow thatched bicycle basket for the scooter. Attached it to the handlebars and steering stem with wireties. The basket has 3 large colorful daisies that light up and blink when I slap the front of the basket. Very cool. When I go to the doctor, all the little girls in the orthopedic waiting room want my basket. But they can't have it. Comes in handy to transport snacks and cocktails at home. At 71 yrs old, this is a new sport for me. Not enjoying it as much as sports of younger years....

Wylie,
Since you've got not much else to do than shop right now: the Gladiator has been introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show...
It'd be MUCH easier to just throw the crutches in the bed!
