• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A New Saga

Well lets see how this will unfold. I took my Spyder to the dealer in Tulare Ca. yesterday to fix the power steering that I realized I never had for 11000 miles. Also it began to go into limp mode once in awhile. I could turn off the key and back on and it would be fine. I told the service manager about issues with the steering that I've read here and he said you can't believe things you read on the net. He said he wasn't aware of any problems with the steering. We shall see.

Sounds like another dealer who's got their head in the sand. And obviously they have no idea what "Customer Service" is all about. Shoulda said "Let us look into it and if there is a problem, then we will make sure it is taken care of."

I'M not going to be ready for a five week fix like Baja Ron.

Keep that dealer under close watch and tell them that you will be actively watching their repair approach. At the same time, start researching for a second dealer in your area. Upon first sign of SNAFU from that dealer .... jump ship and go to your backup.

The other dealer is in Fresno and a friend bought hers there and says they don't seem to know a whole lot about the Spyder either.

If you have steered a Spyder for 11,000 miles without power steering, you ARE da man. You must have some guns on you!

Hopefully you have a fuse out or something simple. I had the entire power steering assembly changed on mine and that was like a three day job-two days waiting for parts. Give em hell about it.

Of all the accessories I got with my Spyder, a well trained mechanic at my dealer is the one I have appreciated the most.

Oh boy !!! Sounds like your a rock in a hard place. I'd look further out to find a decent dealer. A good dealer is worth the distance because you get your stuff done right the first time.

You might point out to him that it is simple enough to check. If nothing else, ride their demo and compare. I don't know if the idiot you talked to is the owner, but if it isn't, I'd be in the owner's office...pronto! No customer should be treated with less than full respect.

I'll give them the benefit of doubt and see how things come out. This is the first time I've brought it to them since the 600 mile service.

i would start looking for another dealer immediately.
since right dealer makes all the difference getting your spyder fixed right.
thats pretty much what i gotten from my first dealer and nothing ever got done.

All that the guy at the dealer said was you can't go by what you read on the web and that he had not heard anything about the steering. Who knows , they may contac BRP and get the scoop and have it fixed right away. they haven't done me wrong yet.

I like that shot of your rig with Morro Rock in the distance! :2thumbs:

Good luck with your steering problem. I hope your dealer works out OK for you.

No, you can't believe everything you read on the net.

But beleive this...I took my Spyder in for steering issues on JANUARY 17. I'm picking it up today (it was ready late yesterday).

If your dealer wants to believe, have him call 865-981-4444 and ask for Ben Loope the service manager for Alcoa Good Times dealership.

I'm sure Magic Man can give you a phone number for his dealer that has fixed several steering issue Spyders.

Hey! We aren't just making this up!

Good luck...I only did 7,600 miles with no PS... You are the MAN!

I told him what they did to fix Magic's and Baja Ron's so we shall see what they say when they call me. They do have four new ones sitting on the floor so it should not be a problem seeing the difference in one that works.

i would be happy to try and help. you are welcome to give him our number to Alcoa Good Times and tell him to speak with Ben. maybe i could steer(pardun the pun) them in the right direction and give a good starting place. on bajarons, it needed the steering sensor and the pump. but, yours might be the exception to what we have seen so far. so its important to let that dealer do there own diagnos and not just throw parts at it.
