As many of you know, I am a die hard snowmobiler and the spyder is my three season snowmobile. What you may not know is that my father is the person who got me hooked on riding in the first place. He took me or rides on the old Snow-Jet 440 until I was big enough to pilot the yellow Formula MX that was to become my first sled. He has been riding sleds since 1971, except for half a season missed due to Knee replacement, and another half lost 3 years ago to a valentines day snowmobile accident that nearly paralyzed him from the neck down. Being a lot tougher than most people half his age he battled back and was riding a sled the next winter. I thank God everyday, and my father, for that effort and recovery. Riding is what we do, and that will hopefully never change.
Now that you have the, all-important, back story here is some really good news. Ever since I got my spyder last August, I have been preaching to my father about what an amazing machine it is. This morning I told him that my wife and I had registered for the Owner's event in Maggie Valley. I did so because he had talked about getting a spyder and I wanted to give him fair warning. He explained to me that he was having Carpal tunnel release done in early April, and having his shoulder rebuilt at the same time. The next words out of his mouth made my day. " I am going next week to look around at DDS (our semi-local spyder dealer) and I am going to make a decision as to which type of spyder I want to buy. The season is coming up fast and I want to make myles."
