• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A mixed blessing service issue

Last night after riding over what felt like a minor bump in the road my 20 RTL threw a VSS message with (ABS) warning light and flashing check engine. Went into limp home mode.

I was a fair ways from home, actually closer to my dealer. I pulled over, shut down, waited a bit, restarted. Same lights. Shut down again, waited 10 minutes, restarted. Same lights.

Wasn’t happy about the brake warning, even though it felt ok when I stopped, so I called BRP roadside. Was told I could expect a call from a service provider within 15 minutes. Waited 30, no call, and called BRP back. They were unable to find a service provider who could come get me. BRP said they would ‘escalate’ the call and that I could expect a call from the ‘escalation team‘.

Waited another 15. By this time my wife had reached the scene and could follow me, so I rode in ‘limp home’ mode to the dealer and parked. Left a message for the service manager.

My wife drove me home where, about 30 minutes later, I got a call from BRP roadside telling me they were still trying to find a provider. I told them the Spyder was at the dealer, so they could close the call. I don’t suppose I can blame BRP for being unable to find an operating tow company in a pandemic, but I’d have thought that would be something a roadside assistance provider would track. I got the impression they were working their way through the yellow pages.

That was the unhappy side. On the positive side my dealer, Fun ’n‘ Fast in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, in spite of having a very busy service department, had it diagnosed and repaired by close of business today. When I went over the bump a lead disconnected from a speed sensor.

Well done Fun ‘n’ Fast.

 Glad was simple hope they checked the others too. Any recent work done previously that may have left it loosened?:dontknow:

BRP uses a call center for roadside assistance and many of those operators have no clue what a Spyder is and even less knowledge of the area you may be calling from. But they aren’t alone, AAA is triple clueless as well. When you need assistance be prepared to tell them, in detail, what a Spyder is and what kind of equipment they will need to dispatch to you.

I kind of looked at roadside assistance as a joke when I lived in Alaska. Fortunately, never had to give them a try.

I could hear them saying, "he's where, and wants help?" :roflblack:

Now, there is not even a dealer in Alaska.
