• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. A Lift for Spyders and Motorcycles

Lots of Spyderlovers have asked me what lift I am using for my Spyders so I just did a quick video detailing the mods to the lift to make it work for spyders and bikes.
Here are the three websites for the parts needed for the lift and the mods:
direct lift
condor wheel chock
cargo buckle

Hi Matt,

Given the forward weight distribution of the Spyder, do you feel the lift would be safe and stable if the rear tire was removed while raised to the top? Another way to ask is... would rear end dis-assembly (weight removal) make it too front heavy for good stability?

Thanks,

Tim

I have lifted the rear tire for working on the shock, I have not removed the rear wheel but I don't see any reason you could not do so. I use a small platform scissor lift under the middle of the spyder to lift the front or rear wheels up for changing shocks. I have had the front wheels off, all done on the lift.

Thanks for the info. Matt.

I'm not asking about getting the rear wheel off, so much as if removing the weight of the rear wheel makes everything so front heavy the the stand and Spyder might fall over forward while it's raised up? The feet of the stand come closer together (and toward the center) the higher the stand is raised.

Tim,

The front wheels of the lift are just below the Spyder RT's instrumet panel when the lift is fully raised so I think we are OK on front to rear weight distribution.
