It was a dark and stormy night with rain slashing through the trees and lightning flashing.
The Good Knight was on his way to save the fair Guenievre in the castle when his horse slid in the mud and pulled up lame.
He dismounted and led the horse through the storm to an Inn. After stabling the horse, he went inside sat by the fire beside an English Sheepdog and ordered some beef stew and a flagon of ale.
As he warmed himself by the fire and drank another flagon, thoughts of poor Guenievre came to his mind.
"Innkeeper", he asked. "Can I trade you my lame horse for a sound one as I must get on my way?"
"Nay", said the innkeeper, "we've no horses to trade".
"Well, could I trade my steed for this large dog then", said the knight.
The inkeeper looked out in to the storm and said...."I wouldn't send a knight out on a dog like this".
