• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A groanng sound in Reverse

A couple of days ago I was backing out of the garage to ride to work and in reverse, it mada a groaning noise as I was going very slow. So I speeded up a bit in reverse and it stopped but when I slowed again it came back. Rode to work, in parking lot decided to try reverse again, slowly and more quickly, didn't hear anything. 1100 miles on new 2011 RTS-SE5. I am not overly concerned but taking a 2500 mile trip in 5wks thru MT,WY,ID. Any thoughts or anyone else experience this?

I have the same "groan" on my 2011 RT LTD. Started on return from Spyderfest. Have 10k miles. Dealer in Phoenix thought it might be "dust on brakes". Still does it after he did the 9000 miles service. Only hear it in reverse.

Groan

I noticed the "groan" this morning on my 2012 RT Limited for the first time. Called my service dept and was told that the noise is nothing to be concerned about. Service Manager started talking "technical" about belt harmonics, belt tension being set whith the belt pulleys moving forward, and a few other things but again the bottom line is the "groan/moan" is nothing to worry about. This morning was the first time backing up my Spyder when she was cold (usually back into my garage after a long enjoyable ryde and things are really warmed up). So I'm going to ryde!

Mine's been doing that for 11,000 miles. I just thought it was in lieu of a back up beeper.:roflblack:

Mine did the same thing today (I always push it forward and back 10-15 feet after each ride on my cement pad behind the house )
I Chalk it up to the couple days of excessive heat and humidity we just got recently.
I won,t ride it in 95 degree heat with High humidity because it only lasts a couple days in CT before we get some nice cooler DRY air from our Canadien friends!!

It is usually worse when the humidity is high or you park after riding in the rain.

Mine also does this, but only after riding in the rain or washing it after riding in the rain. Glad to hear that it's not anything to worry about.

I get the same thing, manual trans...it's the brakes...it's funny but lots of airplanes do the same thing on pushback.

Belt Noise.

Because I always move the Spyder back and forth at the end of each ride (Even though I just put on New Bearings with the rear wheel) Sometimes you will hear a Creeking sound from the belt area and I performed the below maintenance every 3-4 thousand and it does keep the belt Quieter and Smoother. Don,t Over due it - 2 Pea sized bits of grease as shown below (Copy from Lamont Post.):ohyea:
