• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A different parking brake problem

I had the parking brake replaced earlier this year, but now I'm having the opposite problem. About half the time I can't get it to set. :gaah:

Is there something I can adjust, or should I just take it back to the dealer?

Adjust it at the rear brake... right side.

Two ways to adjust... the cable adjuster screws in/out... and if that's not enough, the arm that the cable latches to can be removed and moved a notch or two. The shaft it is mounted on is splined.

.

Thanks!
I'll give that a try.
(or - I'll pretend like I'm giving it a try and Grumpy will say "what are you doing?" and then he'll do it).

I had the same problem . . .

I adjusted the cable on my parking brake. I asked my dealership about it and they said the cable adjustment should work. If it didn't, to bring it in and they would reset the pedal armature.

I had not had any problems until they applied the parking brake fix on my 600 mile service.

At any rate, it was easy, took about a minute - everything works fine now.

If you need detailed instructions, email me and I will send them.

I had a problem where the brake wouldn't lock. The pedal would just spring back up sometimes when I pushed it down. Used a bit of spray grease, the type for lubricating chains is fine, and carefully sprayed it on the little ratchet paul. (The bit that makes the clicking sound when you push the pedal down) Has been working fine ever since. Don't get the spray on the rotor or pads though.
I do have to admit that being as I have an SM5 I don't use the park brake much any more.
