There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. A Braking Question

I have never been fully satisfied with the brakes on my '11 RS SM and I've been considering an upgrade to EBC components. Being that the majority of the braking force is in the front brakes would it be appropriate to upgrade on the front end only or would Nanny wag a finger.

FINGER WAGGING

I can't imagine why Nanny would even be able to tell the difference.......She is Smart.....But I don't think that Smart.......IMHO...Mike

Have to agree..!!

you should not have a problem upgrading the fronts. Just don't mess with the sensors or fluids..then you may have to have some help from BUDS at your local dealer, unless he is doing the work then you have no problem..!!

Nanny would only notice when you lock up the brakes...
Swap away to the upgraded parts and let us know what you think of them!
But... are you doing pads AND rotors??
Of course; BajaRon is the guy to really quiz about these things! :2thumbs:

Well, I recently ordered a set of pads for the front, as I already had a set of Baja Ron's pads on the back. Got the pads a couple weeks before my next inspection. That's the last the,y have been seen by the human eye. Took the bike in, told Mitch the technician. The pads were in the frank and rode the rental home.I called in a couple days, they said my pads weren't in the bike and would I bring em In? Looked everywhere, no pads here. No pads in the Spyder, so I told em to put a set of the originals in - they have 28,000 miles on them. I had put 10,000 on the rear Baha pads and never have noticed any abnormalities at all.
So the only problems is, who stole, ate or ?? the front pads?
The mind is such a terrible thing to lose.

BTW, thought the Maggie Valley and Lamont events were super. Good job by everyone. Like many, I did expect some seminars or such, but had a great time quizzing the bike owners about the different farkles they had. Lots of "locally produced" items and quite a few customised paint jobs and mods

There is no problem switching only the front pads to the EBC Semi-Sintered (or only the rear for that matter). Same with replacing the rotors. The Spyder ABS will compensate for any additional braking at one end or the other.

I hope I am not saying anything that everyone does not know already, but you never want to change just one side on the front for anything. This includes tires, shocks, brakes and rotors.

As for where the missing front brake pads went.... That is a real quandary. Anytime I take something to a dealer to be installed, I always hand that parts to them or at least show them where they are in the vehicle. That avoids a lot of questions... and quandary's too!

Ron,
How much would new pads both ends of the bike cost?

You can always go to my banner ad on the Home Page here at Spyderlovers to get pricing on any of the Spyder items I sell.

The EBC Semi-Sintered Front Pad set (for both wheels) is $93.00. The rear pad set is $33.95 The total would be $126.95 (which includes shipping). List price for a full OEM pad set is $159.48 plus tax and shipping (if you order them from BRP). You can probably get the OEM set for less than this but you are getting Organic pads.

The EBC organic full set are $113.50 but I don't carry them. They are less expensive than the OEM pads but they are no better. For a few bucks more I personally think it is better to go with the Semi-Sintered. Still less than OEM Organic and you get better braking and longer life.

OEM rotors are $225.99 each + shipping and tax if you order them from BRP. The special alloy Carbon Steel EBC rotors (which stop better and resist warpage better) are $143.95 each including shipping.
