665 Garmin on a RT

I had a friend over yesterday and he was telling my how much he liked the 665 Garmin with the weather overlay. We were both curious if the 665 would play through the 600 mount that BRP provides and it did. You gps powered up when the key was turned on and the voice was played through the speakers and was controlled up and down with the handlebar controls.

What we don't know is will the stock 665 harness work with the BRP harness so we can use the weather overlay. It's just another cable that's added for the antenna. I would really love to have weather over my gps and I may look into that when it warms up around here. :doorag:

Also are there any iPhone apps that people are currently using that are good to check for weather/wind when
traveling across the country? any free ones too. I don't mind at fill ups looking ahead, although does the garmin 665
weather give a different route if it is say snowed in?.

It's not free but I use Weather Bug Elite and I love it for the weather. I use it all the time when I travel.

As for the Iphone weather app, I use the free weather channel app. It is not the greatest, but works good.

I also use WeatherBug Elite. Love it and have about 8 preset favorite cities.

I also have purchased the TomTom GPS app. Kinda neat to have my iPhone on the bars and from one place I keep up with pretty much everything.

I use the the weather channel on on Iphone 4. its a free app if you don't mind the ads.

Old Garmin GPSmap 478

I am still using my old 478 with a GPS 30 Antenna which provides (as a cost) XM radio and XM weather. I understand that the new GPS 40 antenna is basically the same thing.

I am wondering that since the radio is built into the GPS 30 Antenna, will it plug into the 660 and provide the radio and weather like the 665?

I forgot to mention that I am getting the sound into the RTS FM radio with an FM transmitter.

I did a search and the motorcycle mount for the Garmain 665 can be had for under $50.00. Best price was from HotDealShop.com. BTW got an E-mail from Cycle Gadgets today which Sean inform me is no longer in business and has taken his web site is down.
