• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 600 mile service

How many people had the first 600 mile service done at the dealer when they purchased a NEW spyder ?
If you don't get the 600 mile service, do you no longer have the new 2 year warranty ? Are there lots of metal filings in the engine oil and that is one of the reasons to get the 600 mile service ?

The 600 mile service was when the 998 was the engine. Now discontinued. Any dealer still proclaiming this is feeding you a large line of BS. If its free, go for it...if they are going to charge the usual $300+....run, run, run.

The 1330's require a 3400 mile initial service. Thereafter, 9,500 mile intervals OR once a year.

I bought my 2012 on a Friday and was ready for the 600 mile service on the following Monday. Dealer could not get it in until Friday. He performed the service at 1,500 miles. Did not affect my warranty.

I just called my Spyder dealer ( East Coast Cycle Center, Bensalem, Pa. ) and they said the 600 mile service takes about an hour and costs about $250.
I also called another spyder dealer in NJ and they also said $250

Run!! Do not walk, RUN from those Dealers!! :yikes:

If you have no viable alternatives within 3 days ryde, then at least ask them to show you in BRP's Maintenance Schedule & Warranty information where a 600 mile Service is called for. :dontknow:

One of the MAJOR selling points of the 1330 Motors when first released was that the First Service was not required until 3400 miles, with a 9,500 mile service interval OR once a year after that!! :lecturef_smilie: . So unless your 'new Spyder' is somehow miraculously a 'New Old Stock' V-Twin 998cc motored Spyder made before 2015 (before 2013 for RT's) then there is NO 600 MILE SERVICE REQUIRED!

Minor difference, but my owners manual for my 2021 RTL says first service (including oil & filter change) at 3,000 mi. and thereafter every 9,300 miles or 1 year whichever comes first.

Question, if you change the oil/filter at 3,000 miles would the next service be at 12,300 (3K +9.3K)?

Besides making lots of labor profit and not knowing if they really do all the checks they are suppose to do ? There is no way to check if they did the checks.

It would be very helpful if WE knew what Spyder you are referring to. ... how long have you owned it ??? ... Mike

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. What I said earlier. And that's nojoke

I have only owned it for a few weeks now. I have just over 300 miles on the odometer. It is the new 2021 Spyder RT-Sea to Sky.

Don't mince words with the stealership. Tell them precisely how much you dislike them pegging the BS meter. IMO, it's a situation worthy of blunt words with the general manager.

I just got my 550 mile service at East Coast Cycle Center in Bensalem, Pa. The total charge was $287. Besides changing the oil and filter and checking the various fluid levels , the make sure everything is tight and working properly. It is not mandatory but recommended by the dealer between 500 and 1000 miles. They are just making sure there are no problems showing. It gives me peace of mind and I know that everything is running properly and nothing is malfunctioning. They took me right into service and I waited outside talking to all the other Spyder riders. Good experience, as always.

Recommended by who? Certainly not by the manufacturer, BRP.
