There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hey guys, I couldn't find my post from earlier so I thought I'd post a new one, you guys are so helpful to a new Spyder owner :)

So here's my dilemma, my dealer can't get me in for service until the 19th. I totally have 600 miles on my bike.

How BAD is it if I go over 600 miles? I mean the weather is freakin' beautiful I don't know if I can wait a week and a half to ryde!!

Please please PLEASE have good news for me :)

You should be good to a thousand or so...maybe more. Ask your dealer what he is comfortable with.

Good to go..!!

you will be fine going on past the 600 miles. This is a reference point and the service is to check that things are going well. Check all your fluid levels and lock in that appointment...:ohyea:

I was in the same boat when I got mine and went to near 1000 miles before my first service and no one in the service department was upset about it....I didn't realize just how long it didn't take to put 600 miles on it. as mentioned before, keep an eye on the oil level.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER feel sorry for asking questions...the answers you receive have no financial motivation...they are answers which come from friends.

We purchased the Spyder, and rode 600 miles the first weekend. I called for service and could not get in. We were taking a trip and were also worried. The dealer said all the above, check fluids, and have fun. We went 1,500 miles before the first oil change service, the dealer was not worried one bit. Now over 5K on and no problems.

1900 miles

I traveled from St Paul Mn. To Key Largo Fl. And had my first service at 1900 miles. Dealer said it was ok and I had no problem with BRP on a warranty issue at first service.

Thank you guys for your NICE comments and suggestions. I am still going to take my trip this weekend and have a blast, and here's to hoping all of you guys are having great weather like we are here in VA.

And I have locked down my appt for the 19th :)

I'm taking a trip to Arkansas this weekend (weather permitting). Right now Valerie has 400 miles so that should put me way over 600 when I get back. I can either a) Schedule my "600" mile maintenance when I get back; if my dealer is booked then B) Convince Len and the Pit Crew to squeze me in in Spyderfest (like I would be that lucky:yikes::pray:).

We usually go about 1500 miles before first service. No problem with dealer on that. Checking the oil is recommended though, as well as not taking the :ani29: to its limits in the early stages.

When we bought the new 2011 for akspyderlady last summer, we put 750 miles on it the first weekend. Had to wait two more weeks before we could get it in for initial service. Was well over 1500 by then.
