There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hey guys, just wanted to get some tips from you all. My dealer says they can't get Greenie in the shop until the 17th for the service. My boyfriend is leaving for China next Monday and I really would like to have my bike here and possibly do an oil change myself.

I was wondering what does this service comprise of and is it a definite must that I get my bike in for the 600 mile service at the shop?

Also- if I want to change my oil- where's the best place to get the parts to do it?

The 600 mile service is Very Important to have done by the dealer. They do much more than just an oil change, like hooking up to BUDS & verifying all is going as it should for your initial Break-In Period. Most other service intervals you can do yourself, and we have a great vendor named BajaRon, that all you need to do is send him a PM with what all you need, oil, filters, plugs, helmets, gear you name it pretty much, and he can take care of you and with Service that is 2nd to None :firstplace:

If you have some mech. abilities and the time an oil change is not difficult to do, I would allow 2 to 3 hrs. for a first timer. I think you will have to get the parts (filters, O rings etc. ) at your dealer. I think the dealers are the only place you can get the new longer filter for the SE5.

I would recommend not skipping the 600 mi. maintenance. They do a lot more than just change the oil and you wouldn't want to void your warranty, just my opinion.

The maintenance tasks for the 600 mile service are in the schedule in your owner's manual. As was said, there is more to it than just changing the oil. I'd recommend you do it right, but you could change your own oil, then have the dealer do the rest of the service a bit later...but don't wait too long. The best place to get the necessary oils and parts in the short run is your dealer, IMO. Save your receipts and document the service carefully if you do it yourself. I take a dated picture of the odometer and attach it to my receipts.

:agree: see page 118 in your owners manual. Highly recommend you have the dealer sign off on it too. Just a suggestion - it's your choice.

Yea you guys are right, I really should get them to do it. I may drop it off tomorrow and they said they would *try* to squeeze it in before the weekend. If it's not done by then I'll just go pick it up and bring it back- ha.

I do want to do it right because this baby is an investment for me (will be replacing my car a lot this summer) and I want to take good care of her.
