There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 60,000 miles

Lots of financial institutions in lots of states will not loan money on a "mileage unknown" vehicle. This is a problem BRP should address, but it will be difficult, and they show no inclination to do so, from what we have seen thus far. I hope the RT does things differently. It is made for high mileage.

IMO, no vehicle should be limited to five digits in this day and age of digital odometers. I feel vehicles should also have a secondary digital register, which could be accessed by the dealer, with a secure procedure for making the main display coincide, and appropriate affidavits to verify that it is correct.
So it's a requirement imposed by many US financial intitutions rather than a single states law? I misunderstood, being used to Canadian banks. I have had a banker give a used vehicle the once over for general condition, but usually they are just concerned about the customers ability to repay. Perhaps BRP was not aware of this requirement. Sounds like they need to adress this concern, all right.

hey doc: :congrats: :clap::bowdown:

Age: 17 months
Miles: 60,000
Agerage miles/day: 117,64
Average speed: 56.02 miles/hour

:congrats: But just out of curiousity and for the sake of intuitiveness; How many, and what kind of parts were replaced to obtain that mileage?

Wow with great maintenance like that, sure is too bad it's only worth 50% of the book value.

Hey Doc give you 5K for it right now. After all it is a "TMU" bike you know.:roflblack:

In the KBB the trade-in value for 2008 SM5 is $10,050 http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/trade-in/2008/can_am/spyder-sm5/237462
TMU (at 50%): $5,025
Based on the Street and Touring Expected Accumulated Average Mileage rule, a bike made in 2008 with over 750 cc engine displacement should have 10,600 miles. Every additional 10,000 miles dropp the trade-in value with $1,000. At 60,000 miles the trade-in value is ZERO!

I have always had a difficult time translating those values from the book. It also looks like 90% of them have no bearing whatsoever on the Spyder. Of course it would be much more difficult for them to tailor the book to each model of motorcycle that was made, but perhaps if they locked them into general categories based on what the bikes could have done to them it would make it easier. Sport Bikes, Cruisers, Choppers, Touring, Sport Touring, Trikes, and the Spyder would be in a class by itself. ;)

Seems like a pretty good argument against one-size-fits-all rules like the odometer rule. Of course, if you disagree, I am prepared to offer zero dollars for your Spyder, cheerfully paid in either Canadian or US funds.

Yea for a clapped out TMU bike. :joke: :roflblack:

But I meant that in the "best" of ways. :D

Speaking of BEST how does this play into BEST warrany coverage, now that your miles are going to be 0 again? :dontknow:

Also, for emissions warranty too? I know in NY emissions warranty is for X years and or XXXXX miles. Looks like you will be getting the "years" coverage now that your miles are 0 again. At this rate looks like every 12 months or so your emissions warranty will start over again and again and again....... :roflblack:

BEST coverage is independent of mileage. Whether a person puts 50 miles or 50,000 miles per year on their Spyder makes no difference.
