• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Age: 17 months
Miles: 60,000
Agerage miles/day: 117,64
Average speed: 56.02 miles/hour

:ohyea::congrats: What an accomplishment! Hopefully BRP sees this and comes up with a program for our Spyders that will be miles and not kilos. Else, all who reach 60K plus will revert to ZERO again.

That's GREAT Doc! You are the man!!!:2thumbs:

Hey question? Have you thought about what are you going to do when the miles go back to zero when you hit 62400, or is it 64200?

Won't it be hard to sell there in FL being no bank in FL will give a loan on a TMU (true mileage unknown) bike once the speedo goes over? Hopw the buyer has cash when you sell it.

Have you asked BRP about this? If so, what did they say? :dontknow:

All of us will, indeed revert to zero at 100,000 kilometers or it's mileage equal. Problem is that it is a five digit (plus tenths) digital display, instead of six digits. A program change wouldn't do any good unless they revised the digital display for an extra digit. Maybe they can just program a little Spyder pic to appear in the display for every time it turns over. :roflblack:

Congratulations Doc: It is good to see that I am not the only crazy person in Florida. Your average speed is higher than mine. Is this the result of a different city/country mix, or do you just plain ride faster? All of your miles are on one Spyder and mine are split between two Spyders (not voluntary). We will all look to you for clues as to what happens to the Spyder when it ages and the miles approach 100,000. Some time when we meet in person I would like to compare your approach to maintenance with mine. I have made some adjustments in the maintenance schedule for the rapid accumulation of miles. I would also like to have that conversation with Nickcaro.

Seems to me Floridas odd law needs adjustment, rather than the Spyder. Perhaps the local authorities could issue a document verifying your milage just before the odometer re-zeros. Most of the world uses kilometers. Are we all supposed to get in step with Florida?

Lots of financial institutions in lots of states will not loan money on a "mileage unknown" vehicle. This is a problem BRP should address, but it will be difficult, and they show no inclination to do so, from what we have seen thus far. I hope the RT does things differently. It is made for high mileage.

IMO, no vehicle should be limited to five digits in this day and age of digital odometers. I feel vehicles should also have a secondary digital register, which could be accessed by the dealer, with a secure procedure for making the main display coincide, and appropriate affidavits to verify that it is correct.

Lets vote on it.:joke:.. It so happens that Florida is not the only state, but most likely nation wide. Why do you think we still use miles per hour on all roads and streets.
Even our speed limit signs are miles per hour.

Would you like when your Spyder is lossing 50% of the trading/resale value due to TMU?
Read Federal regulations, such as Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) and the American Automobile Labeling Act of 1994 (AALA).
Most of the world uses kilometers.
In 2007, the European Commission announced that (to facilitate trade with the United States) abandon the requirement for metric only measurements and to allow dual metric-imperial marking to continue indefinitely.
Are we all supposed to get in step with Florida?
Are "we all" due the same as EU?

I believe that BRP sells more Spyders in the USA than it does in all of the rest of the world combined. We Spyder owners here in the USA were not given a choice as to whether we wanted to use miles or kilometers when we applied for a title from the motor vehicle department and we will not be given a choice when we sell the vehicle so we can buy a new Spyder. Don't penalize us because we ride a Canadian motorcycle.

Congrats on the mileage milestone Doc. :2thumbs:

I do find it interesting that the hour meters each stopped with the 70.9 as the last digits. I saw where NickCaro's main hours were also at 1070.9 when it stopped, and am now wondering what his trip hour meter is stuck at.

Does anyone know for sure that the mileage isn't indicated on the ECU?

I have a Dodge Caliber SRT4 and besides the odometer display, the ECU also keeps track of mileage. When I had the original ECU replaced by what is called a stage 1 controller (from Chrysler) the person installing it entered the mileage from the original ECU into the stage 1 controller. I was there when he did that.

:congrats: Awesome mileage and here's to many more!!

BRP needs to create a 62,137 mile pin!

my trip time never went above 10-12 hours cause I was constantly reseting it. Only noticed my time stopped when I got to work and saw that my trip was still at 0.

Spyder mileage is in the ECM. The question would be is the mileage in the ECM reset at 100,000 kilometers? If it is not, is there a way to get it to read-out? The link between kilometers and miles must be removed because kilometers must be reset at 100,000 (there are only 5 digits).

I can't tell you for sure what your experience or anyone else's will be, but I can tell you for sure what my experience was.

I flipped to zero miles at 62,137. (unkowingly, I only noticed when I looked down and saw that I only had 57 miles total) Made it to the dealer a few days later and we were all looking forward to seeing what came up via the BUDS connection. My gauge showed 611 miles and BUDS saw 611 miles.

One week later I was back at the dealer and they ran the "updates" that came out. In the process my gauge flipped back to 61,xxx miles for reasons unsure to anyone. That day the gauge showed 61,xxx miles and BUDS showed the same value.

A week later, I actually saw the flip happen again at 62,137 and by the time I made it back to the dealer I had 2,3xx miles on the cluster. When it was plugged in to BUDS it had the same 2,3xx miles.
