• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

50 years ago today JFK was killed in Texas. now i have problems remembering what i had for dinner the night b4 sometimes but i do remember what i was doing when he was shot. i can remember my father had gotten me a toy that was like a jig saw that worked off a battery and had a wire on it instead of a saw blade and the wire would heat up and you could cut Styrofoam blocks into different things and i was using it in the kitchen of the house i now own and day was in the living room watching tv when it happened.
does anyone else remember what you were doing on that day. it will be interesting to read if you remember and to read what you were doing at the time

I was on the playground when they ended recess earlier than usual and brought everyone inside and made an announcement over the PA. Don't ask me what I was doing yesterday...:dontknow:

I had just gotten home from school...
Outside in the front yard, when my Mom came out and brought us all inside to watch the news.
...Now; let's fire up the flaming wars...
As a High School student; I was involved om a group project regarding the assasination, and all of the conspiracy theories. We ended up taking the Wareen Commission Report; reading it cover to cover, exploring every possible fact that we caould check...
Our absolutely in-expert findings...
He did it, and acted alone...

I was at a movie in Bedford, UK with my then girlfriend when a message scrawled on a negative reading "President Kennedy has been shot" was flashed to the audience. Bedford was in the midst of a number of US bases...Chicksands, Alconbury and others and our town was the centre of Evenings Off for the locals.
A short time later a message "Confirmed..President Kennedy pronounced dead" appeared. Everyone left the theatre to the sight of trucks and busses and MP's rounding everyone up to take them back to base.

Horrible night.

I was doing the exact same thing, on the playground at Airline Park Elementary School. I wonder what I did this morning :dontknow:

Ray, I'm familiar with Bedford. Been there several times.

I was in 8th grade science class. They announced over the PA system that Kennedy had been killed. Mr. Ransom, the teacher, sat at his desk with his head in his hands. School was let out early. When we went out in the hallway, I saw teachers, male and female, crying. I also remember seeing LHO being shot by Jack Ruby on live tv. We watched the entire funeral on tv. Our neighbor had some sort of connection to DC and was at the funeral.

Like others, I can't remember last week.

Sitting at my desk in 5th grade at this one room country school.
This picture was taken one year before. That's me front row, 2nd from left.
By the way, this is all 8 grades!

Some of our memebers weren't even born then ...

First you forget names, and then you forget faces.
Then you forget to pull up your zipper.
It's worse when you forget to pull it down.

I don't really remember, but there were very few things I could have been doing: sleeping, nursing, or crying for a new diaper.
I was 5 months old.
My wife was 3-1/2 months old, so she was probably doing one of those same things.

I was sleeping, had worked a 12 hour shift on midnight shift and my grandfather woke me up to tell me.

I was sitting in my Classroom when a teacher came in and whispered something in my teachers ear and then my teacher started to cry and told us that President John Fitzgerald Kennedy had been assassinated, then i got teary eyed because I had seen President Kennedy a year earlier in person while he was in a parade and truly felt like i knew him personaly (although i did not).

sleeping

I was in the Air Force at the time and I was asleep in my bunk on the Army base at K6 in Korea when they woke us up to tell us what was going on.

I was in the 3rd grade, Massieville Elementary, Massieville, OH. When the teacher was called to the door and they told her. She started crying and all of us kids were sent outside for an extended recess. I watched the funeral along with the rest of the family on our little black and white TV with the huge cabinet. Some things you never forget.

I was a Junior in high school, walking down the hall to the lunchroom when an announcement came across the school intercom with the report that he was shot. Then a little later we heard a report that he had died. This was in Richland Hills, TX, a suburb of Fort Worth, TX.

I also remember getting home from church on Sunday and turning on the TV to see Oswald being shot.

Doubt I will ever forget

As a young mother I was busy on my hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom floor in our teeny tiny home....no TV...had the radio on...heard the news and I can remember just sitting back in the soapy water on floor and bawling....and I was so praying that the "stupid radio" was WRONG...when I visited Arlington Cemetery...memories and tears again.

I was on the bus headed home from business college. Someone, who had one of those transistor radios, made the announcement to all on the bus that the President had been shot. When I got home I turned on the TV and watched the non-stop coverage for the next couple days or so. I can still see some of those images as though it were yesterday.

I've heard it said that happenings such as this stay with you as though it just happened. I can remember where I was and what I was doing when the Challenger accident happened, the planes hit the twin towers...
