5 things to take with you........what would you take???

As an extremely new person to this whole touring/stupid long trips on a bike I thought I would poll the rest of the group with this question...

What 5 things would you not leave home without for a ride over 3 days/1000 miles...you already have the following items.

1.) The tool kit that came with your spyder.
2.) The only extra storage above and beyond the trunk, you have is a BRP rear seat bag.
3.) Clothes for the 3 days including (rain gear, riding jacket, normal clothes, etc.)


I have my own ideas, but i would love to hear the opinions of the rest of you....opcorn:

That is a 100% sure need, especially the Ride-On. And don't leave your cell phone charger at home! We are also going to join AAA as on overkill in feeling good about our trips.

5 things aliitle help

Inthe years I traveled between duty stations,a little item that was really useful was Spacebags.They are the ones that you can put clothes in for storage and you use a vaccuum to suck the air out of to flattten them out for compact storage.They come in different sizes and they can hold alot of clothes for the road and protect them too(waterproof).Every hotel/motel has a vaccuum cleaner that you can borrow to repack and deflate the bags for the continuing trip.They kept my checkin uniforms pressed and neat.Carried at least a weeks worth of clothes in 3 bags and flattened to the size of apair of rolled up socks,packed in one saddle bag.Highly recommend them!:2thumbs:

There are lots of good lists and sites out there that talk about this. There are also as many opinions as there are belly-buttons. Google up "motorcycle touring" and you'll get a load of good hits. In the end, it will be your choice and your decision. I like this checklist for getting ready for a trip. It is customizable, and printable. I use the double box method, checking once when I gather an item up, and a second time when I put it on the bike.
