• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

5.935 Gallons

I was about 100 feet from the gas station when the Spyder spluttered and the engine died. Fortunately, I was able to coast in. I know others have asked exactly how much gas the tank holds, well in my case I was able to put in exactly 5.935 gallons.

I don't plan on repeating this test, this attempt was nerve wracking enough.

Just curious, how many miles did you get on that tank?

Humm interesting..... When I ran out, no sputtering at all, just quit as if you turned the key off.. I put in over 6.2 gal.. I think the driveway at the station may have a a pitch and not being level could be the difference.

I know I've done 15 miles after the last bar disapeared and put in 5.75 gallons. I also remember reading someone doing 35 miles or so after the last bar was out and only filling in a little over 6 gallons.

BRP openly said (in a "Question of the week") that the gas tank is 7.13 gallons.

Hi all, first let me say that i'm not currently a spyder owner but in 6 months that will change. Ive been following this site for about a month and you guys are great.

Now about the fuel I think one thing that's being over look is the temp
because the hotter it is the less the fuel will weigh less ( more vapors) this could be the reason why some of you are able to get a little more than others (a few tenths). the standard measurement for fuel is at 60 degrees.

BRP also said openly on their Web site, about a year or more ago, that the 7.13 was an error and the 6.6 published in the revised manuals was correct. Who ya gonna believe, BRP or BRP? ;) I have put in 5.8, 5.9, and 5.8 when the bars were gone. A lot depends on how you fill and where you prefer to shut it off. I stop when fuel blows back through the small vents in the tank splash guard. Most people who have run out have reported using 6.1-6.3 gallons to fill.

Keep in mind that the tank vvolume which they report is less than the actual capacity. The tank extends above the fill opening, for one, useless space. Some head volume is also desirable in any tank. You need room for expansion due to heat and movement due to hills and turns. What we all need to do is know about what our Spyder will do on a tank of gas, how we fill, how our guages read, and what kind of mileage we get. best bet is not to cut it too close. It doesn't hurt to fill up before "Empty".
